I'm not sure about the numbers (5%, etc.), but the basic idea has to be right.
When I came to this site four years ago, I brought a boat load of experience with other cars, and over time I learned a great deal of S2000 specific "stuff," from the small handful of real experts that were here at the time. Most of the posts here are merely people passing on what they've read in other S2kI threads, and when they lack the background to seperate the wheat from the chaff, they're as likely to be passing on misinformation as not. Older members talk smack just as often as new members, and it's been that way ever since I started hanging out here.
Once the car goes out of production and prices drop far enough, the people who think the car is some kind of status symbol wil all go away, and I think that will actually be a big improvement, even if the ratio of idiots to gurus doesn't change.
