JsAP1 lives in Hawaii - that is a totally different world when it comes to car pricing. Hyundais sell for above sticker over there.

California is all over the place - some areas are more expensive than others......just like trying to compare prices across states.

Yeah, I noticed that. I just didn't like the condescending nature of his post, he came off like a prick "I did pay cash for mine" and "your 29,000 dollar budget". I'm not new to the S2000 scene and he probably made the assumption that I am. I've owned 2 of them and have been on these boards for 3 years.

Don't let people online get to you. Most people have two personalities: the one under a screen name, and the real one. JsAP1 has been here a while and he seems like a good person - sometimes his posts, like mine, come off in a condescending nature. It is tough for the longer-registered folks on S2Ki because the board has made a big shift toward a younger crowd. Sometimes we jump to conclusions/assumptions that we probably shouldn't.

Thanks Poindexter.

I am a good person sometimes.

Hawaii and California always seem to have crappy car prices when they first come out. Hawaii had a standard $7000 markup when the S2000 came out and there was no way around it in 2000. So you either paid that markup or you didnt get the car. Simple. Weak I know, but dozens paid it and moved on. I paid $33000 give or take in 2001 which was very good considering the following year the 2002s and even the 2003s had sticker prices of $39000. I said Prelude or Integra budget because thats what I was told even with $29000 cash in hand. They wanted $39000 remember? I remember one of the dealers were a total prick to us. Needless to say we never went back. They wouldnt budge from their $37900 price +tax and license which would have been close to $41000 out the door even with $29000 down. Thats BS IMO so we left.

FYI a $29000 budget is a lot of money IMO. Its not chump change by any means and I am sorry if I came off like that but Poindexter is right I sometimes sound like a jerk. I was just telling it like it is/was back in 2000-2003.
Understood.

I know the mark ups here in 2000 were the same way. The highest price I saw an S go for was 45K+/- in late 99. That was insane but it was the only one in town at the time.

$30k + California tax + $900shipping is still alot cheaper than $33k + hawaii tax. If you are buying an S and aren't buying one from the mainland, you are getting ripped off.
Either way its over the $29000 that people are getting them for anyway. Was just an example.
