S2000 losing value?
Hmm if i didnt know better i think Poindexter might be agreeing with me. Well almost.
Yes i was just a low life sales men. It was actually my first day on the job. And my very first customer. First words out of their mouths were we are not buying today, just looking.
To make a long story short. They bought a jeep that was so new we didnt have an invoice for it. Which i thought was kind of funny. You think chrysler would maybe provide something like that. Anyways me and the general manager go way into to the back where we find a file cabinate under lock and key. And he quickly thumbs through some files finding the correct jeep. Tells me how only him and the owner has keys to it. And this is at a dealership where the owners son and daughter both work in the finance department. So they didnt even know the "real prices" i guess. He pulls out a 3 x 6 index card with the real price right there on it $15,800 or so. And this is on a $22k retail $19k invoice jeep. Of course these buyers were savy internet shoppers with the edmunds invoice and paid right around a $100 over invoice. So i got my mini of $75 bucks and learned the car business sucks. Sale a $20k dollar product get $75 bucks. LOL might as well sale tv's.
Granted i believe a dealer should make several thousand at least, on any new car. Its just how they act like there losing money on every car is what pisses me off.
Poindexter you surely must know what the term "Blue Sky" means when it comes to the car business. Only thing better then selling cars is selling whole dealerships.
PS
I have worked in insurance for the last 10 years after my short stint in the car business. Yes its not much better, feel free to ask any questions you might have.

Been having dealers calling me all week, lowest price they offered me was $29,000, needless to say I'm going in on Weds to pick one up.
The last three months of cool weather, sunny sky driving ... priceless.

Anyway, I do know what "Blue Sky" means, and it can be quite a chunk - especially when the Dealer Principle owns the land too.
We're already offtopic enough in this thread, so let's save the insurance talk for another thread.
I wandered through my local Honda dealership last night and was very surprised that they had a ton of S's on the lot, every color. Seems like the Civic is the hot car at the moment since I couldn't find any Si's. They had a silver S by the road with $29,xxx crossed out on the windshield and $26,xxx wrote underneath it. I didn't see a dealer sticker so I think it might be an 05 or used one. I was planning on waiting till 07 but I just learned here that this is the last year. Not sure what I'm going to do since I have a bunch of finanical obligations that end in Jan which would leave plenty of room for a car payment. But a good deal could sway me. Does anyone know what month would be a good time to pick up one of the last 06's? I forget when the 07 models but I think it is in fall?
I wouldn't buy another new one as Honda denies warrentee coverege on a whim, especialy on items not made by Honda like the transmission, convertable top etc. Why pay for a warrentee if they don't honor it
