s2000 or miata

But semantics aside, it is just as much fun, and in some situations more fun, to drive a tiny, underpowered little sports car, than it is to drive the S2000.
My test drive impressions(AP2) were that this was was a car that was meant to be savored more on the track than the street. The vtec range went by really fast(compared to the si which hits vtec at 5500 rpm and its 5 gears cause it to remain vtec longer allowing more time to savor vtec. Need to drive an AP1 to see how that feels). I really liked the cornering of the s2000 but I was nowhere near the limits.

I agree.

With FI you don't get to savor VTEC for very long, but that's a downside I can live with.

i have both, as well as the si.
i actually prefer the mx5 as a daily over the s2.
the s2 has a different engine characteristic.
relative to each other the miata feels torquey from down low while the s2 is a bit more
'exciting' at the upper rpm band from 7-9k. its harder to control engine torque than the mx5.
in terms of dd, si of course makes most sense.
keep in mind trunk space.
i cannot even put a shotgun in the mx5 trunk.
where the s2 can just fit one in. and of course, the si can hold 6 shotguns or more.
the miata is made for more dd scenarios, while the s2 is made for attacks in my humble opinion.

Difference between a 93 SA & a 07 2000S.
I own a 1993 Mazda Maita & just bought a 2007 Honda S2000. Of course the big difference is power, 247 Hp vs. 110 Hp. It is a rush to hit 6000 to 8000 RPM and have the VTEC kick in. But I live in the San Francisco Bay Area & traffic is such a problem, that hitting this sweet rpm/speed spot is not always possible. Also the engine sound in the S2000 is better. But the 93 Maita has better ergonomics

I had a 92 miata with upgraded lsd and greddy turbo. Bought the car for 1800 and the lsd for 400. 1100 for the turbo kit that I put on myself. That was fun! It had 150K miles on it and I beat the hell out of it and it took all the abuse and kept coming!
I miss having the miata as a beater drift car but the newer miatas don't have as much room in them as the first gen. I am 6'1" and cannot drive the newer ones due to the steering wheel being smushed up against my legs.
I think the S2000 is what I wanted the miata to be. I love the miata but I love my s2000 even more.

Another one here who had a NB Miata(a 2000 LS model). It was a great car IMO. Of course it doesn't have the power of the S2K but it is amazing to drive at its limits(so communicative and easily controlled) the S2K is much "twitchier" and unforgiving. I always fear it is going to bite me(even with VSA) which I never felt in my Miata(or Boxster without PSM). The Miata is so easy to drive hard on public roads, where the S2K would be at superlegal speeds. I prefer the S2K to the Miata but it is really hard to say it is better especially on US roads. The Miata interior is much more comfortable IMO as well.

Im sorry i just had to say it.
