s2000 or miata

Yes, but what color Yugo? Otherwise we'll have another one of those threads on selecting color.

I really should test drive one of those miatas someday.
I heard they are very fun to drive, and it is the most popular roadster out there.
I bet that the Miata comes first to their mind when most people think of light weight sub-30k roadsters. And I believe it's performance is the best in class(sub-$30k roadsters category).
No matter how much discount there are for the S, the MSRP of the S is still $10k more(average) than the miata.
I guess the price difference pretty much sums it up.
The amount of fun/dollar? That I don't know.

If money is no object get the S2K. Now with that said personally I can go with either one of them. I've owned the first generation miata and it felt a LOT faster than my s2k (till I hit vtech). You can't rotate the tires on a s2k, insurance is surely more than the miata, also note that your S2k seats will attract a lot of unwanted attention by thieves.
I'm looking to sell s2k to get back into a Miata in the future. Too many cars too much insurance. Not a good idea for my life style.

Miata's are gay. Get one in hot pink.
Seriously, I think the only time an S2000 owner would prefer a Miata is when he's sliding off the road because the S2000 got away from him.
Miata's are great cars, but the S2000 is more of a specialty car, so it all depends on what you want. I may be the only person here who likes the new MX5 with the retractable hardtop, but if I was buying a sports car to drive every day, and in the MX5 price range, I'd give the car serious consideration.
Both cars are fun, but (IMO) in quite different ways.
It's a lot cheaper to hop up a Miata than an S2000.

I sold my '99 Miata last December and bought an '06 S2000. I still miss the Miata.
1) It was more fun to drive on the street. I drove it like I stole it pretty much everyday and it never let me down.
2) The aftermarket is much more accessible... I added an intake, header and catback for less than $1,000 total. Try to find a decent exhaust for an s2000 for much less than that amount.
3) The community over at miata.net is great. If I have a serious question, I still post it over there knowing that I'll get a well thought out answer even if I'm talking about a non-miata auto vs. "dude paint it pink".
That being said, I get more positive comments on my S2000 in a week than I got w/ the Miata in a year. For whatever reason, people think the S2000 is somehow more exotic.
