It is a 2 liter naturally aspirated sports car. Show me another one with the power and torque the S2000 has. Put it in the 2 liter and under class on the track and just about nothing will touch it. Compare Apples to Apples for Christ sake.

Don't waste any more suggestions/coments/replies on this fella. I am finding it difficult to believe that he even owns an S2000. Check out his post on RWD vs. FWD. I thought he had a Corvette before. At least that is what it says at the top.

The S2000 is a fantastic car. Smooth handling, corners on rails, slick design, and, oh yeah, it erupts over 6,000rpm. Just got off the highway and was behind a dumptruck spewing sand out the back. Shift down, floor it, and you're gone.

Sure, it's a little sluggish off the line (if you're not launching). And I'd personally like a stereo with more juice. But man oh man, for what the car was designed for and for the PRICE, this is a sweet ride.

I had some schmuck on the Z4 board question me about the torque. I said I'll drive circles around him (less hp, 300lbs heavier) and he can have his low end torque and additional $18,000 for the cute "BMW" logo.

All hail S2000!!!

Man, you guys are really sensitive when someone make a comment about your precious S2000. I mean, the guy is not even bashing the car. Just making some comment on what the car can be improved on. Why do you have to keep telling him to get another car? Maybe he likes everything about the S2k except the engine and would like to make a comment about it. It's juts like some people complained the plastic windows on the pre '02 cars and would be happy to see the change to rear glass window on the newer model. Come on, no car is perfect and it's good for people to voice out the weakness so that they make it better for the next version.

Strange when most of us say one of the best things about the car IS THE ENGINE!

If torque was the end all and be all why are bulldozer and tractor trailers not the fastest things on the street? They have more torque than anything else on the road...

All this is totally subjective. To each his own. For some, the S has plenty power and torque for your needs. For others, its not enough. I will say this... you can't expect to drive the S like a Corvette, the power curve is entirely different. You have to learn how to drive your S to get the most out of it.

Depends on whether you are raising the torque to meet the hp number, or lowering the hp to meet the torque number
