S2000 - not the fastest really

No, because, guess what? The name of the forum is "S2000 Talk". There's also a "Car Talk" forum, which is the correct place to talk about a Cobra.
I have not owned a US made car since 1982...and prior to then I only drove them 'cause they were free from the family hand me downs.
During that time, the commercial was popular 'Have you driven a Foooooorrrrrdddd, Lately'? Quality was job None as I used to say.
Yep, I did drive one...and it routinely broke down and ran like crap.
That commercial used to really burn me up after walking home from a breakdown in both LTDs and the older Ford Fairmont. Ugggh.
Speed and power and price are trumped every time by reliability.

I own a 2000 S2000 for 4 months now. before i had a 98 integra type r with i/h/e and some smaller mods and that car was really fast for what it was.
after this i got the s2000 and i have to say i am really disappionted. it doesnt only feel slower than the itr it is slower. i dont notice vtec kickin in almost at all unlike in the b18 integra. i tried to understand the car and to give it some time, but everytime i drive it fast and hard its just disappointing somehow. it lacks something, not sure what exactly. just doesnt feels so aggressive and fast. i expected really more of this car. what is your opinion? are there some people out there who feel the same? or others who think completely different? would be interesting to hear your opinion about this....

but, i will keep the s2000. maybe getting an old dc2 as daily driver tough.
Man you guys are being waaaaaaaaaay too hard on snmalone... learn the difference between some jackass ricer and someone who has a legitimate question and presents himself maturely, which the OP is doing.
The S is never going to push you into the back of your seat, and while the ITR won't either, it is a more focused car. I don't know what to tell you if you're feeling disappointed in the S, you might want to get a compression test and make sure you're car is a healthy example. Otherwise the general battery of maintenance might be in order.
Otherwise, you just might not be driving it right... because of the gearing and the non-VTEC power band, especially an early AP1 can really underwhelm at low rpm. The good news is you have one of the best gearboxes ever put into any car, so use it to keep the motor on boil. No S should feel slow when it's up on its toes. If there's one thing this car can do, it's feel fast @ 8k rpm.
Even if it's really not.

Fair evaluation Dr. Wot. I think he may be suffering what we who come from B16/b18 models all seem to experience: The difference in power does not seem noticeable, even though the end result is quite different.
And the fact that the B16/b18 make big noise on cam switchover, especially with I/H/E while the S switchover (stock) is very calm by comparison only adds to the sensation that there is no real speed difference between what you drove an the S.
The difference comes when you look at the speedo and notice that for the same amount of WOT acceleration, you end up going much faster in the S than the B18 integra.
The difference is further amplified when you learn to drive the S with its totally different rwd influenced characteristics properly. For a while, you believe you are faster in the Teg; then you learn to drive RWD and then you know the S is faster.

I'm sorry, but after reading this whole thread, most of what i was thinking in regards to a response has already been said. But after reading ALL of the OPs responses, I'm convinced that you bought the wrong car, and that an Evo or even an..dare i say it, SRT-4 would have suited you better. The car was designed for top end power, which might make the average DD feel embarrassed when they are winding out 8k to zoom around mini vans, but IMO, this car was my alternative to buying a bike..i love winding the gears! (i would have most certainly killed myself on the bike)
My advice to you, is that if you cannot unload you car, buy either a Comptech or a greddy kit, both will get you exactly where your looking to be, GL
