Default S2000 Odometer Exempt

so I bought my s from Michigan and they’re policy for odometer branding is that they exempt any car that’s over 10 years.

I was was wondering if having the odometer exempt affects the value of the car.

the car has 44,300 original miles but I guess since the age is over 10 years, the DMV does not care to record the mileage anymore.

The DMV over in VA(where I live) put exempt on the odometer brand and I’m wondering if I can get an odometer disclosure form with a notarized letter validating that the car has 44,300 actual miles?

has anyone dealt with something similar to this. If so, I need some input before I go to the DMV and present this case.

"Value" is what someone will pay for it.

Digital odometers are unlikely to display mileage less than the actual. Gotta be possible but I'm guessing it takes some electronic equipment not in everyone's shop.

you didn’t answer my question, Chuck.
I am certain that the mileage hasn’t been tampered with. The two owners before me were old and one was a doctor.

I am trying to figure out what this exempt on the odometer brand really mean.

Exempt just means showing the mileage on the title isn't a requirement.
Pretty sure anyone who is interested in buying the car will take a look at the odometer. There is also Carfax and Autocheck history backing the mileage shown on the car. I'm not sure what's the concern?

Personally, I would consider an exempt odometer reading to be an issue for me if I was purchasing a car. Funny I actually just bought one a couple days ago with the exempt miles. I did do my research and guesstimate the miles to be accurate though, with carfax history being the biggest helper. As long as you can provide the carfax and can explain the miles and it's believable, it shouldn't be an issue.

Well, you'll be on equal footing, since anyone buying an S in a State with this policy will have the same issue on other S2000's they look at. So they'll quickly learn what others in this thread have stated, buyer will look at the Odometer to confirm the miles.

So no, it won't affect the value. Shouldn't be a concern.
