If I had the money to blow, I would get the 911, but for the price you cant beat the S2000.

If you can get in / out of a car and still retain your dignity, then you're young enough to drive it. The S2000 is a very stylish car, can't imagine anyone looking out of place in it.

Due to financial constraints I can either buy a new porsche targa 911 and get rid of my audi A6 or keep the audi and get a S2000.

The trouble is I have a 1 year old son that I ferry about. He would fit in the porsche but would it be a street.

What decision would you guys make and why.

I like the looks and prestige of the porsche but I loved driving the s2000. I feel at 37 I might be a little old for the s2000. Anybody own a 911?
Gee, I never thought about age when I bought mine. I'm 58 and I love my car. Of course, all my life I've believed that you are as old as you think you are, and I'm usually about 21 or so.

If you want the S2000, get it, you will still have the Audi to haul the family around in.

My ego says, "996 Targa!!!", but you could save yourself a boatload of cash with the S2K. I don't think you could ferry your kid around in it, though.

Buddy! You have asked the right guy. I own BOTH!!!

Before I give you my decision, read this post and you should get a fresh perspective on the Porsche issue.

https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...?threadid=59386

Let me be brief. My 996C2 replaced an NSX. And I am having a wicked case of buyers' remorse. Since I got my second S2000 (last April) I only put about 2,500 miles on the Porsche. The 996 is too cushy and decidedly German.

Do the S2000 option. I would NOT advocate the Porsche. I know this is a pretty controversial statement. But every time I feel like driving, I go out to the garage, take one look at the two magnificent machines and do a bee line for the S2000. Every time!

Further evidence to prove my case about how I feel about the Porsche...

Mine has to go. NSX's make much more logical stable mates for my S2K. -KM.

I wasn't trying to be insulting with my comment about being to old to drive an S2000. But I have recently bought a car I was really too old for the Nissan Xterra(in yellow). I loathed that car so much I had to get rid of it after 2 months.

I guess there is a lot of vanity in me. But I am trying not to make another mistake....

The hell with retaining your dignity! I'm 54 and recently literally fell out of my S when I was getting out and actually nicked the paint job at the corner of the door jam with one of the rings on my left hand! Embarrassed -- yes; do I care -- no! Still having fun!
