Default S2000 Purchase Advice

I'm hoping that someone can help answer some questions and give some serious advice. I've been working on purchasing a 00 S2000 from a small dealer in town. This car has the loud trans noise. The owner had a new stage II clutch and flywheel installed thinking this would fix the problem. However it did not, but the car now has a new clutch . I heard others talk about the Diff being a problem on this AP1 cars. Could this noise be related to a Differential related problem $$$$? The owner is still trying to fix the issues before selling me the car. The car is currently at the shop be looked at again. So far, he has been a hell of a nice guy, but there is no question he is getting frustrated. Losing money on the deal at this point I believe. Do you think I should just look for another S or see what happens?
The car seems to be a good deal and the deal is getting better the more work that he puts into it at no cost to me.

The the status on the car
Clean Car Fax (small Dealer owned)
44K miles,
Very clean inside and out,
new tires,
after market rims
new clutch now.
K&N Cold air intake
Back plastic window has bee replaced.
My locked price on the car is $11k.

My concern is that he is going to give up on trying to fix the car and then it will be my call to buy or not to buy.

Thoughts?

Probably would be good to have someone familiar with the s2k take a look/listen. Or if you can post a video so we can hear the sound, it might make a long distance internet diagnosis.

If it's a differential, you can buy a used one for $500 and have installed for a few hundred more. Not really a deal breaker IMHO unless you can't find the cause of the problem.
