$29,995. I'm thinking I can deal the salesman down to $28,000 firm. What do you think?

i'm currently looking to buy a new S2k 2002 model. After research, this is what I can say to hopefully help you decide on your car:

1) you can get a new 2002 S2K for MSRP, which is 32876 <--- something like that.
2) Plastic isn't bad, but glass is better, I'm even considering a optional hardtop because I do alot of long distance driving to and from college.
3) Nothing beats having a NEW car, because I've heard some horrific stories of people selling their cars, after putting 100 dollars into making their car in "working" condition after they totally messed it up.
4) Nonetheless, S2k is a great, car, Honda makes great engines and you shouldn't have too much problems with new or used.
5) I personally prefer the glass window, not just cuz it has a defroster, but also because I dont' have to spend the time and money to "fix" the plastic when it gets messed up. The MSRP of a 2002 and a 2001 is 100 dollars difference. That's worth the damn glass.... trust me.
6) I wanted to get a used Supra for the longest time, but I think you'd be happier in a new car, cuz of reliability.... and you kno that it's never been abused in anyway.

anyways, good luck on searching for a new car, here is where you can find a list of dealers selling at MSRP:

www.S2ki.com

new or used, you'll enjoy the damn car, and that's what we can all agree on.

Well, if you are willing to do an out-of-state purchase, you can probably get a new 2002 for $31,500 delivered to your door.

If you can't get a used one down to $28K or less, I would recommend the out-of-state purchase.

FYI, I think that the MY2002 also corrects a common problem with the transmission found in the earlier models...

Good luck and let us know what you decide to do.

How would I search out of state prices? And in which states are the prices lowest? (demand lowest?)

The car at Cush Honda in San Diego is white/red...Unless it is one that was not there the other day. I dont remember it having a body kit on it either but I could be wrong. I was told by one of the sales people that on one of its test drives it was slightly damaged. The rear end I believe if I can remember correctly. And again that is assuming it is the same car I looked at. It is is very good shape. If it was damaged you cannot see it at all.

It does look very nice but arent they asking like 32k for it? I will have to go look at it again if it is still there. Its been there for literally months.

I'm in the market also in SW Florida. The situation here seems to be that the dealers still want premiums on new 2002 s2k's of around $1,800 to $3,000 but on the east coast of the state most dealers SAY they'll sell at MSRP.

I was looking at a used s2000 ( 2001 yr ) and the dealer wanted $31,500 for it and I wouldn't go above $30,000. That was 2 months ago and its still there I think. By the way have any of you heard production numbers from Honda for this year?? I got into a discussion, really a debate with the dealer when he was trying to rationalize the premium. What a bunch of bull!

Anyway, good luck and hope the right s2000 comes along for you; it is awesome. Gibby

FYI, I got my brand new 2002 spa yellow in December 2001 for $28000 here in Mass. The prices may have been cheaper in December but still you could probably get one here for $29000. I know it's probably not practical for you but if you wanna come over, boarding and lodging will be on me :-)

I'd recommend you get the MY2002, there's quite a few significant differences, like:

* stereo has more power + a tweeter!
* glass rear window with defogger - this is a big difference, IMO.
* Transmission has been improved.
