Can you provide more specifics, such as dealership, contact person, etc.?

There must be a catch because that price is just too good.

Agree.
Invoice is ~$23500 according to Edmunds....
Maveric,
Did you trade in your car?
I know, I know. It's too good to be true but I'm not the only one. There are other people on this board who got theirs for 29K. I've heard that the difference between the price of Japanese/US currency is such these days that they still make the same profit selling it for 28/28K. I'd still think that 29K is more of a truer price than 28K because I went in to buy the car the last day of 2001 which I've heard makes a difference as well. BTW, they did not even have the car and had to buy if off of anyother dealership in Mass.
PS: MSRP on my window sticker was 32400.

Wish me luck!
Mas, thank you for the boarding offer! I will definately keep you kind offer in mind as I search dealers in MA.
$28k for a new S2000 - THAT IS ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL! If I can get a $29k price on a 2002 S2000, I would fly over there in a heartbeat. Call in sick, and get my butt over to the dealer to sign the paperwork. If you see any models listed for around that price, PLEASE let me know! You can email me at AMEXERIC@YAHOO.COM
Thanks again,
Eric

Yes, the car was financed by Honda and I traded in my prelude for it. However, I don't work like your average car buyer. I did not tell them about a trade in or that I'd get it financed from Honda. I got them down on the price first. I actually had another offer from a dealership in NH that was almost the same. I'll try to get a price quote tomorrow morning for you guys and post back here.

Potential S2k buyers:
I went through the same buying process at the end of December '01. I am a student and so price was a major factor. Its good that you are using this board for information/research. Although I am in Massachusetts here was my situation and some tips.
1) Negotiated for a 2001 Red/Black with 1,000 dealer miles for $28k.
2) Negotiated for a 2002 Silver/Black off the truck for $30k.
I felt the $2k difference was worth the '02 upgrade, plus I fell in love with the Sebring Silver.
My thoughts:
- Use the prices you get on S2ki as ammunition for dealer negotiation
- Shop at the end of the month, dealers recieve incentives based on monthly sales figures, so the last few days deals can be had
- Target a large Honda dealer that is a more volume based business because they are less sensitive to small margin increments in sales price
- Get the exact car you want, don't settle for anything less then exactly what you want, its a kick ass car
- Be patient with dealers, and if you are willing to walk away from any deal in your mind, you will be able to negotiate for a great price
Good luck, let us know how it goes.
