S2000 Purchase Help!
Hello, I'm looking into the purchase of an S2000. I am a value shopper, and that is why I'm looking at some used models.
I found a couple models around $28,000 range with 5k-24k miles. Is this a good buy?
What are your opinions of used S2000s?
My co-workers tell me that they won't be all that great, since the previous owners would have VTEC'd the lights out of it.
Also, I know the new 2002 models have the glass rear window. How big of a difference is that? I know it's great, but how do you pre-02 model people feel with your plastic window? Is it all THAT bad?
Any inputs would be of great help.
Thanks in advance, and this is a really great forum.
I was thinking about a used M roadster and have been on the Bimmer forums... They really suck nuts.

I think used S2000 are great buy since there are not major mechanic update for the new 02, the engine of S2000 is very reliable, should not be much problem.
most ex-owner knows how to take good care their car, even they do VTEC alot.
the glass window is better but not a big deal, there are many way to clean the plastic window from FAQ or search the forum.

Also, if you kow anything about the cars and their owners. Know about its service records. I would always be leary of a used car. However, if you can get one from a dealer where the car has been certified, that would be a major plus. Check out www.edmunds.com.
The plastic rear window is no big deal. That is all I ever knew growing up. Although today there are some great cleaning, scratch removing and protectants out there to make it look almost as clear as glass.
I wish you luck on your search.

There are quite a few more changes in the MY2002 than that of earlier models, just do a search since there are many postings about this...
Since it sound like people are trading in cars closer to $26K, you can probably buy closer to that figure. If you're patient, that shouldn't be a problem.
Maybe your question is best answered in the SoCal Forum...

I'm planning to use my future S2000 as my primary transportation, which will include a daily 30 min commute to work and 30 mins again back. Is it a good daily driver car?
Oh, and Cush Honda of San Diego has a white certified S2000, year '00 with 12k miles and the factory body kit. The thing is, the interior is black. Isn't the white model only offered with red seats? I was wondering, and thought that it could be an aftermarket paintjob to cover accidents or something.

Wow! White/Black? Sound pretty cool, although I've never heard of that combo.
I bought my MY2000 White/Red up in L.A. used from a private party with 10K miles on it. Got the 100K/7 year extended warranty too.
Haven't had any problems and I love it!!! Plastic rear window is no big deal.

Whiterocket, how much did u pay for it? (if you don't mind disclosing)
Also, when you buy a used car, isn't it better than new in the fact that you are not the one taking the worst depreciation hit, and some other fees that you don't have to pay...
Also, people tell me insurance is cheaper for used.
