I must apologize for causing great confusion regarding how this slipping happened. I was already in 2nd gear before I entered the corner. Upon entering the corner going for a right turn, I pushed the car too hard causing tail to swing leftward sliding to the opposite lane. I don't think this would've happened if I were in my FWD car. But yea... must not push the car above its limit when entering the corner...since it's RWD
ok, well that clears it up then. gunning it around a turn in an AP1 = losing the rear, even on dry pavement in some situations. gunning it around a turn in a civic = understeering / plowing straightforward.

from reading your OP: "so today I pushed a little, released my clutch, lost control of rear and swiped right into the opposite lane," i don't think i was wrong in deducing that you had the clutch in, shifted from 4th to 3rd or 3rd to 2nd, then let the clutch out without rev-matching. and doing so in a curve could cause a spin out. actually, i've seen videos of people carelessly downshifting or mis-shifting 3rd to 4th (and into 2nd) who spun out on a straightaway.

thanks for clearing it up, at the expense of s2ki members hating on me.

same happened to me, but this was due to cold tires and hard shifting, car warmed up, a buddy said get on it, i did. came out of first into second hard and went down a major road in midtown atlanta side-ways. actually, having a go-kart when i was younger saved my ass, had i not known what to do, i'd be parting out an s2k.

my advice to the less knowlegable during driving, buy a beater and give it hell, learn to come in and out of skids, and swirve control, all that fun stuff, teach your kids early, i'm glad i learned.

^But you didn't say what you did as the rear started coming out on you...i'll bet you lifted off the gas causing the spin out...

really sorry about that, I couldn't think well cuz it was quite a scary experience. I know it wasn't like 720 degree spin crashing into a car but it was just scary to imagine if there were cars in the opposite lane. Today there were so many cars there O.o

But u know even though I "pushed" the car, it WASN'T that fast. Really just a small push. About 35km/h, which is... 22 mph? Amazes me how not-warmed up car and wet road can do.

the rear began to come around when the rear tires lost traction when second gear engaged (after market clutch) the rear went to the left, i steered to the left, the car never spun out, just fished almost 90 degrees. i had to heel the brake once to slow the front tires down a hair, decreasing momentum alowing the rear tires to regain traction. would you like an equation on this?

Except that he implied that he was accelerating, not decelerating, so he would've been upshifting, not downshifting.

OK, I can see how you could read it that way. I assumed he was starting from a stop (or low speed) and then making a turn and heading up a hill.

Oh, well.... it's all a moot point now. I think he knows what he did wrong. Hopefully he'll learn from it.
