Haha, this post is waaaayyy out of hand! I reluctantly sold my mint Type R and bought a used Civic coupe as my daily driver. Cheap and dependable. It also helps you appreciate you S2K more!!

Try out the Impreza 2.5RS as well. Please do. It's an awesome car. The engine isn't as fancy as a Honda Vtec or anything like that, but the car is undeniably fast and fun.
As for the Golf 1.8T argument, it IS a fun car, and very quick. VW's biggest downfall if you ask me, is the body roll. My Subaru's chassis and suspension--stock--smokes VW's.
Absolutely toasts it. That, atop of the AWD advantage (for me), is what made me buy the Subie instead of a 1.8T Golf four-door. And I was very serious about them!
What I do miss is having a hatchback. My last three cars were, and this small-trunk business just sucks.
