If you can afford a daily driver and love the sound of turbo's spooling up, get the rx-7.

Otherwise, the s2000 is the next best choice.
Next best choice? A turbo S2000 is the number one best choice

True, but I think I'd rather have an all-motor s2k than a forced induced one.

Compared to other cars, the s2k actually doesn't respond very well to boost in terms of power, not reliability.

Big power N/A is a pipe dream with this engine. It would be nice, but it's just too expensive.

A good FI setup will yield near stock driveability. The SC kits retain stock driveability and a well tuned turbo setup will do the same. Look at some of the Lovefab kits putting out over 20 rear wheel horsepower per pound of boost. I'd say thats a good response to boost.

If you lower the compression ratio, the engine responds even better and remains safe.

The reliability of the RX-7 isnt that good, but I have to admit the design/look of that car is timeless. Its one of those designs that would look amazing even if released today.
Any other cars like that? I know the NSX is underpowered but I think that has look that will withstand the test of time...the S as well

I've actually owned a rx-7 and loved the car... but the only thing that worried me was it feels like i'm driving a a moving time bomb... never know when the engine is gonna go. But during the time i have owned it, I have never had any problems with it. The rx-7 is definately not a daily driver, it consumes a lot of gas compared to the S2000. Prior to my purchase of the S2000, i was deciding to do a V8 FD project but couldnt' find a donor car for the right price and condition.

I loved my RX-7, but for the money, maybe you should be looking at a 300ZX TT.

15K is your budget? You might want to reconsider your car selections.

20K gets you a decent FD, assuming 15K for car and 5K for pineapples (or whatever you like).

guess why mazda pull the plug on RX7 in the states years before the end of production model?

warrany claim had rack up to the roof.

undersized cooling sytem+ old/worn apex seal=back to the factory

not bashing the mazda rx7, they are one of my favorite 90's japanese tuner car in my book but if i have to choice what to drive everyday: S2000

but again, it's my third honda so
Actually it was mostly because of the introduction of OBDII. Mazda didn't want to spend the kind of money to bring the electronics up to par. The very low sales didn't help either. For the most part, it had nothing to do with the reliability except fopr the fact that it might have effected sales. Yet for the most part, no one was having problems until after it was not offered here anyways in 1995.
