I'll bet my bottom dollar they are stolen. We get our seats stolen on a regular basis down here in Florida...it doesn't matter if you garage your car or not. There's been at LEAST 2 dozen sets stolen from central florida members, and countless dozens stolen from south Florida members. Please, everyone, click on those links, and REPORT them to ebay as stolen property. This has got to stop. It has become an epidimic. Florida insurance agencies are starting to total out our cars, because the replacement cost from the dealer on 2 new seats, with all the hardware, and a new top to replace the one they cut to hell, is roughly $10,000.

EVERYBODY!!! Please, please, please, report these immediately. If ebay gets 400-500 emails on each one of these seats, everytime they come up, they're going to stop allowing that item for sale. Local law enforcement agencies are being lazy shitheads about it too...they aren't doing ANYTHING about it, obviously. This has got to stop.
Insurance companies aren't doing much better as in many of the cases I've heard of, they are not paying for new seats. They pay the repair shop less than half of what new OEM seats go for so the shop installs "refurbished" seats provided by car thieves. These "refurbished" seats are re-upholstered and that's what you get.

A friend got a set of reburbished AP1 seats in his AP2. Do you think that is great?

His steering wheel was replaced with a brand new AP1 wheel. How great is that?

The one thing the insurance co can't get around replacing for new OEM and year specific is the top which is perfect.

Other than that, there is NO "upside" to having this happen.

As a person who's had their car broken into twice (not the S) I can assure you that there will be damage that's in many cases minor that the insurance co will never repair as it's part of a much larger panel and you will have to live with the scratches that the bastards left behind for ever.

In Florida, there seem to be a great deal of seat thefts perhaps because there are many S2000's here or maybe because many people don't have a garage and those that do, don't use it to keep their cars safe. It's all very sad and once you understand that the insurance companies are in on it by not buying OEM seats in many cases makes it painfully clear that this is not going to stop. The repair shops are loving it because they are getting over $4k to buy these "used" seats and re-condition them.

In this case, the ebay link posted belong to three auctions from a seller in Montana.

That's a long ways away from Florida. I don't think those seats were stolen en FL and shipped to MT??

How do you KNOW they are stolen? Don't get me wrong, I would hate to have my seats stolen, but you guys are on a witchhunt.

How did he know they were AP1 seats? Other than a change in the leather supplier, 00-05 seats are the same...same part number for the foam structure. The '06+ are different.

Put it this way. How would YOU feel having to wake up every morning and go make sure your car wasn't broken into EVERY night?

Lets talk hypothetically. I am an S2000 owner. I take out my seats and sell them on ebay. Law enforcement agencies are actually taking note of this epidemic, and sends an officer to my house to investigate my "sale." Am I going to be upset? HELL NO. I'll shake their hand and give 'em a big ass hug, because this is getting F'ing RETARDED!! You people in your "safe" areas have no concept of the stress we're going through down here. These stolen seats have shown up all over the country on ebay. The theives have probably wisened up to us, and just changed their location on ebay to fly under the radar. I'll be willing to bet these seats are still in Florida. I know I've purchased stuff from ebay that was supposed to be in California, but when I checked my tracking number, the components originated in Indiana....

All I'm asking for here is for you, as fellow owners, to have a little compasion for us fellow members that are caught in this crime wave. What's 2 minutes out of your life to send off an email??

haha... if anyone wants my seats let me know in advance. I'll leave the car unlocked for you. Just be sure to slash the top for good measure

The money you get in insurance is unreal - totally worth it. With that said, no I would not do it myself because I'm a very honest person.
And why do you think insurance costs so much? I can tell you it is partly b/c some owners do not take the necessary precautions, stuff gets stolen, and premiums get raised. And are you aware that the parts used in repairs do not necessarily have to be new? Did you stop to think that stolen parts support black markets and crime?

Your comments on the emissions/straight pipe thread were equally thoughtless.
Your POV sound more like an anarchist than a libertarian.

I live in florida and my seat locks are on order. Check out the south Florida forum. There is a sticky just for all the seats that get stolen. Even in gated communities. One guy got his seats stolen 4 times already. Miami is the worst in the state for thefts.

How many people do you know of that would give up the excellent seats that come in the S2k for something aftermarket?

I agree there MUST be some that do but as many as you see for sale on eBay?

What are the chances one guys gets his hands on three sets of seats simultaneously and sells them so cheaply on eBay.

Come on!

Because AP2 seats have a gunmetal gray colored ring on the back of the seats where the "headrest" is. AP1 seats have this ring or trimpiece in black.
