Which s2000 should i buy ?
hey guys.. first time to forum.. hope to learn lots from all =)
my question is.. im thinking of purchasing an S2000.. and i dont know which year i should get.. because.. 00 and 01 models are pretty close in price.. however, the 02+ models are more expensive.. i know that there is a glass window in the 02+ models.. but what else is there besides that ?and what about the xenon lights.. did the 00 or 01 models have them ? thanks for the input

buy a silver one
read up on TSBs, test drive the different AP1s to help decide which way you want to lean. my pref was for the '02 because of the glass window, leather console instead of carpet, and not having to deal with the horrible rattle on the transmission that i heard when i test drove on '01

You should buy the newest, lowest mileage one you can with what money you have. Whichever one you are serious about, you should have a complete mechancial inspection done on it and check any and all history of the car for having recalls and TSBs done.
All S2000's from the very first year had High Intensity Discharge headlights.

TSB = Technical Service Bulletin
These are not recalls but rather, they are "fixes" for annoyance issues that owners find they cannot live with. Most do not affect the safety or operation of the car but more to resolve noises and such.
Some people find a plastic rear window to be intolerable and MUST have a glass one. If you don't mind looking through a plastic window and find one that is in good condition and you learn how to look after it, a plastic window is no big deal.
The transmission does NOT rattle. It's just that in all S2000 trannies, the characteristic backlash is such that the normal harmonic vibration conveys itself back up the drivetrain and causes the clutch disc springs to "buzz". Later cars had revised springs to minimize this but many have reported that they buzz anyway. This is simply a noise and do not affect the way the car functions. This was one of the TSBs put out by Honda for those who could not tolerate the noise.
