Don't sweat the digital dash. I've never had a car with one before. All I've known is round analog stuff, even if if some of it is corney like my Maxima which changes B&W colors. But I would not change my 'ole British Smith dials for the S2000's... believe me it is VERY functional once you get use to it. Sure you can see the damn speed quickly (and so can your passenger) which is NOT to good, but that rainbow tach is great for seeing your shift points a few split seconds before topping out. It's sweet. And, as for all the other stuff that could be packed in there (oil pressure, oil temperature, etc.), who cares -- that was cool back in the days when people could actually see a problem developing and do something to fix it. Those days are history. These engines are simply too complex and technologically superior for 99% of the driver's to repair.
I guess I sort of understand the want for a 60's style dash but really it's incredably retro. Race cars don't have analog gauges anymore. If the S2000 dash was grey and black and had the gear indicator where the speedo is it would pass as a dead ringer for a Star Mazda dash.

Sorry, but what about those 996 turbos, M3s and F360s? What are they?
-----------------------
F360 I'll agree to, but the 996TT and M3 are nowhere close. They are both blindingly quick but they are far from race cars .... if you said 911 GT3 or a Lutus Elise then I'd agree with those as well but not M3 or 911TT ... maybe M3CLS.
Having a fast ride does not have to do much with being race-car-like. Race-car is pure raw perfromance - nothing else matters. S2000 excells at being a 'race-car' ... if you are after something else then the Boxster, TT or Z3 will do it better.
The Boxster was close BUT 10k+ more, not worth it. That and one cant see the engine.
TT I could see me w. a picnic basket. To fo fo (But the coupe has some good storage w. the folding seats) Alas - I had to have a convertible....
I wanted (and got) a good looking, convertible the is performace based. The only draw back is the dash. (there is no center??) Something flowing (Maxima, 350Z) would have looked nice and tons more of cars would be sold..
Sounds like you took the same test drive road as me.
Was it out in Franklin, off of Hwy 96? If not, those are
great backroads down there. I drive it sometimes during
lunch.
I ordered a Blk/Blk '02 from Darryl Waltrip Honda back in October,
but I found one in Knoxville and ended up buying it there.
Here in Nashville I've seen a few S2000's, but not since I've bought
mine. (2 1/2 months or so now)
Hey, Pothole.. I bought your car. I am getting the blk / blk from Darryl Waltrip - they said someone was above me on the board (assume you got back your depo?) for the blk one.
