S2000 versus Boxster
Boxsters are WAY too common on the street. Every Tom Dick and Harriet with the disposable income to buy a "name" seems to have bought the boxster. I laugh at those people. Half of them are afraid to mess up their hair - so they leave the top up when its sunny and 75 degrees outside.
Performance is nearly equal between the two. The Honda is very similar in straight line acceleration and cornering when compared to the Boxster "S" - the turbo.
Ammenities probably goes to Boxster.
Value definitely goes to the S2000.
The S2000 community in general are true drivers and sports car enthusiasts - picture the top down, wind in hair, bugs in teeth.
The REAL Porsche guys drive the 911, anyway. Remember the old 914 and 924? They were the laughing stock of the Porsche communities way back when. I wouldn't doubt that the 911 guys pick on Boxster posers all the time.
So, you can join the flock of Boxster people or get an S2000 a be alot more unique/rare on the street and save $10-20k at the same time.
I've made my choice!

To own a Porsche is somewhat of a dream for all of us. We all dreamt of owning a Carrera, a Turbo, and some of the classics. However, dreaming of owning one and actually owning one are two separate things. I have always looked at Carreras and dreamt of owning one. I friend a co-worker finally made that dream into reality by buying at Boxster. I have to admit, it is a bit more comfortable and roomy inside with the lack of the center console (Mid Engine/Rear Drive) makes it a bit more airy inside. Aside from that, I don't see any more positives that would drive me to getting one. I live near and work in Beverly Hills and they are a dime a dozen here. Too many of them to the point that it makes me feel that they have become somewhat of the Toyota Corolla of Porsches. It is not the Top Dog for that nameplate. Not that it is a piece of $hit or anything like that, but just too many of them around. I heard that after the .com bust, most of the Boxsters from the Silicon Valley area were sent here to So. Cal. How often does a person see S2000s on the street, not too frequently. More frequently than a NSX, but not the frequently. Honestly, there aren't too many Honda Salespersons that has even driven one unless he has sold one. The maintenance is is simply Honda. It is just that it is the Top Dog under the Honda nameplate, known for its reliability, value, simplicity, and Vtec. I have had this car for about 3 weeks now and have gotten quite a lot of compliments. Even the, "That's really a Honda, when they make those." Performance is important, but most of us dream about owning sportscars because of the performance, the whoo factor, as well as the limited numbers you will see driving around. The maintenance cost, the cost of the vehicle, and all the amenities are just an added bonus in my opinion.
Happy Days.
Happy Days.

it seems that most people who drive the boxster jus wanted the "porche' name, which is pretty lame.
