I moved from s2000, to Porsche 996 and bought a gti a few weeks back. This week had stage one . bhp has gone from 200 to 240 and torque from 207 to 270.

The dsg gear box is awesome, very quick gear change. No way would a s2000 stock spank a mapped GTI. Stage 1 ,it would be close probably but a stage 1 map on a ed30 is 300 bhp and you would just see the rear lights

even tho the OP said he is stock, he does have intake and exhaust and shaved 150lbs, thats why I think we would edge out the GTI. not rape lol, but still beat him.

You do realize bolt ons do almost nothing for the s2000 right?? Also, 150lbs would equal..maybe a tenth off a 1/4 mile time. If the GTI does indeed gain as much as above poster said with the stage 1 map, it would beat the s2000.

Hes talking about 2 different cars, the GTI with stage 1 puts out 240bhp, the ed30 stage 1 puts out 300bhp. so the S would beat out the GTI Stage 1, but it wouldn't spank it. Against the ed30 the S2000 would loose.

I owned a lightened stage 2 GTI with DSG, the S2000 is about the same speed (a touch faster, but shifts have to be perfect to make up for the DSG speed) but at higher speeds GTI gearing is bad and the S2000 would edge it out.

Stock GTi [fifth gen] is pretty quick from 0-100mph with the DSG. Personal Opinion

also have 4 seats and some more space.

Indeed they are quick with the DSG, as it takes no skill. the S2000 is easily faster though, but you need to know what you are doing, or you can lose to one. When I got my first S2K in 01, I lost to cars I should have beaten, until I finally learned exactly how and when to shift. This car takes skill to go fast that's for sure.

Hey guys,

I actually own both cars. I've got an 01 S2000 that's bone stock except for steel brake lines and a '10 Mk6 GTI with APR Stage 1 and a Carbonio intake. I think on the street the GTI would take it. They produce crazy amounts of torque with stage 1: 290-304 ft lbs with the intake. The power is also accessible a little faster than with the S2k because it starts at about 2000 rpm and runs out of breath at about 5500-6000. I love both cars but the gti may be quicker.
