I owned a 98 GSR and an 01 Type R, and now have an 01 S2000. After my R I went for the S2000. It is the next step up from the R. Who cares about normally aspirated ITR's v. S2000. Stock for stock the R gets smoked. My brother also had an 01 R with a Mugen exhaust,Comtech CAI and jdm 4 into 1. Guess what? He got smoked.

rudebwoy,

As other s2k owners may have mentioned, it comes down to convertible vs. hatchback and rwd vs. fwd.
If ITR came in a convertible, would you consider switching to an ITR convertible?
S2k is basically an ITR with a convertible top that produces slightly better performance numbers.
Many S2k owners were previous ITR, GSR, Lude, Civic SI, or Del Sol owners. Many of the current S2k owners have expressed their interest in the following as their next car: Vette Z06, E46 M3, NSX, or Cobra SVT.

My suggestion would be for you to hold on to the ITR.
Save the money and consider cars that can run the 1/4 mile in the low 13's in their stock form. If you prefer staying in the S2k price range, test drive cars with boost (EVO8, WRX STI).

Now, if you value pure driving dynamics over performance numbers, then, S2k might be the right car for you.

Peace.

I've also owned both. I would not be so quick to say that a stock ITR will get smoked by a stock S2k. I guess it depends on the definition of 'smoked'.

Peace.

My previous car was a '00 ITR. The ITR definitely felt more like a tubbed out race car. The s2k is more refined, and a little easier on the seat of your pants. The ITR body is stiffer. But in all honesty, top-down driving aside, I had just as much fun in my ITR as I do now in my s2k.

A few points:

The s2k IS, and feels like a much heavier car. In my opinion it also feels faster (which it is). I think it also feels more stable at high speed. The ITR had more of a tendency to bump across the road on uneven surfaces.

I prefer the RWD handling characteristics of the s2k over the FWD Integra.

As far as inclimate weather is concerned, both cars are equally capable in the rain. FWD is more forgiving, but if you don't do anything stupid in the rain, you have nothing to be concerned about.

On stock rubber, they are both equally useless in the snow.

As far as attention goes, the s2k get many more comments.

We of course can't overlook the convertible top. It's a simple question, do you want a convertible? I did.

Just my .02. Good luck.

I have driven an ITR and it is a wonderful track car like the S2k. If driven right the S2k can take the ITR.

I personally think the body stiffness and ridgidity is superior on the S2k over the ITR. The ITR's unibody cant match the S2 X-bone construction...its plain and simple. S2k is faster than the ITR. More torque and top end power.

handling- Hard to say....both have wonderful handling characteristics but one cant compare the two. S2k RWD whereas ITR FWD. Of course, ITR will be more forgiving on the track. RWD is always more fun.

..s2k kicks the ITR when it comes to overall fun factor
