Clearly it is.
If that's the case its not a very smart investment. Spend $21k to get in return a maximum of ~$10k worth of gifts. Hmmm. if thats the plan then why not spend the $21k on gifts and have the wedding at the courthouse.

Why would I sell? I make good money at a secure job, young, and not planning on having kids for a long time. Also I've always enjoyed track days and cruising and plan to upgrade this car slowly over time then turn it into a gutted/caged designated track car after it ages.

If you are making this comment in general, then why did you or anyone else modify their car(s)?

hmmm.......I've gotta agree, that's pretty classless. Almost sounds desperate, almost.

Weddings sure aren't about YOU but if that's the way homey plays, good luck.
Honestly, the wedding is more about my fiance. Personally, I would have been fine just going to vegas or doing a small backyard wedding for a couple hundred bucks and calling it a day. But my fiance wanted a fairly large and nice wedding (~$21k). Also I don't care about videographers($2k), photographers($3k), dj's, decorations, etc but my fiance wanted it. I would have been just fine hooking up an ipod and have family take pictures. So really what's $500 worth of car parts?

To me I would have rather spent less on the wedding and go on a long and extravagant honeymoon.

I say go for it. My girlfriend certainly wouldn't be opposed to it if we got married.

Sure gifts are I guess to start a new life as life partners, but it's not like he's asking for a 80" TV or a turbo/supercharger. He said mostly they're going to be cheap gifts for the single guys who don't care to give plates, towels, etc. If he did put more expensive items, it doesn't sound like he's really expecting them.
