I just got an e-mail from Tuan of vtec.net that Honda is doubling production of S2000 for the 2001 year.

Tuan is the guy who actually updates the "rumors and news" section of vtec.net. I think he's a reliable source.

 

Tuan is a very nice guy and does get rumors from lots of people but has no more insight into Honda than anyone else on the outside.

The rumor from American Honda sources is that there will be fewer cars in the US for 2001, which makes sense since there is no introductory push.

If they limit it to a two year run, I would definitely consider buying a red MY2001 and storing it for future use - when I wear out my MY2000 black/black. Will have one for parts 25 years from now when the car is a classic and the other one with low mileage...
