As Greg would say:

True, true.

To be more specific, it's a US marketing concept. In Australia we have only one of these Japanese brands gone luxury that being Toyota/Lexus. I believe it is actually derived from Luxury EXport, USa which is a bit daft considering it's the only one they brought to Aus. No Infiniti, no Acura. So we have Honda NSX's for example. Is this "up branding" used anywhere else?

Hey AusS2000, I'm rather surprised to know that you have no Honda NSX's down under?! Is this the case? Off shore to the US all NSX's are branded Honda (as they SHOULD be), so I'm surprised to learn that you are not graced with the beauty of the NSX in Austraila. Say it isn't so!

I just wish they had the blue. Maybe I'm hyping that color up too much.

I prefer for the S2000 to have a very short run. Personally, I don't care for superchargers or anything like that. 120 hp / liter is quick enough for me.

Seeing less of the S2000s on the road definitely is my preference. I just don't want to see the S2000 become lowered with rims this and that in the used car market later on down the road. That's one of the reasons I decided to fork up more money instead of buying the Prelude. I love the 5th gen model, but I'm seeing too many modded ones on campus.

I admit, I'm a snob.

You guys have some great info. Thanks!

If I wanted more power, more power, more power, I wouldn't have gotten the S2000.

bah! That's all I got to say on this speculative and pointless question. They don't make enough of them anyway to fill the streets. I see way more PT cruisers than S2Ks and more Boxsters too for that matter. The former is a high volume car/truck/whatever stamped out by the thousands the other has been around a few years. Even if they did make them for 5 years, they would still be pretty rare but it would sure bring down the price of aftermarket goodies.
