S2000: When will Honda stop assembly?
Nah...I just like to be a little exclusive on the streets where everybody knows what it is but not many have it. It is cool to own something that is limited. So if I see too many S2Ks running around, S2K would be just another car even though it is an exceptional car. But you are definitely right about more S2Ks will drive down the price on S2K after market goodies.

My slant on this from reports in mags that came good with the S2000 details are:
Late 2001 early 2002 production run ends as the new NSX (cheaper, faster, heavier) will be built in 2002, must allow some time to tool up so I reckon late 2001, thus producing a 2002 model. NSX is the car built at this plant that they will make big money on, some on S2000, a big loss on Insight, however the max. output of 20,000 a year I think will dip when they start building the S660.
Already in the UK euro imports are taking 6 months (and with no saving on the two I tried???????) and official Honda UK cars are now 4 months in the waiting up from 3, grey imports are apparently drying up as the strength of the Yen is affecting 'grey' exports.
My opinions based on what I read, which is probably better than any advice from a dealer, who seem to get their info. a lot later than everyone on this board, and that is true in 99% of all cases!!

I really hope they don't cease production soon. I know that some folks get a nice warm fuzzy feeling if they own a limited-run car and nobody else can get one, but considering the number of people in love with the car who really want one, they should produce it at least a couple more years. That'll give us a chance.

If the last year of production is 2002, do you think they'll introduce the blue for that year?
I know my questions do not have firm answers, but knowing the knowledgeable S2000 people in here, I am throwing it out.

Personally I'd like to see the S2K production stop after MY2001 so that values remain very high, the volume stays low, no significant changes made, etc. But if they continue into 2002 and add the blue.......I'm trading my silver/blk for one!!

Here's my take:
I see Honda continuing to produce the S2000 (in it's current state with no major changes) until the car is no longer widely sought after. The rumor I heard is that Honda will not "update" this car like they do their other models because this car isn't meant to stay in the model lineup -- it will only be produced as long as demand is there for it. I myself see the production run going 3-5 years total. Of course, I could see a highly popular restyled NSX model squeezing the S2K out of production a little early (but probably not until after the 2002 model year).
