Default S2000 Windshild

does anyone know anything about s2ks being prone to windshields cracking? I have a 2004 s2k and my windshield has cracked down the middle, top to bottom two years in a row. There were no chips in the glass or anything of the sort to cause a crack. If anyone Knows of any reason why this is happening please let me know.

Never heard of this before. Both defective and Probably bad luck as crazy as it sounds.

It's *windshield

Nope...sounds like a cheap aftermarket windshield, you're ins. co. should help you replace it depending on your deductible.

You said that this has happened twice now - did the cracks emanate from the same location in the frame? If so, make sure that when they install the next one that they have a good look at the edge of the channel for a high spot that could cause a pressure point on the edge of the glass that could initiate the crack with flexing of the chasis or bumps in the roads that you drive on. Also begs the question whether the replacement windshiields are OEM or cheaper aftermarket brand?

hard to get real oem. I only know if $600 glass at the dealership. I'm running cheap, $220 installed, and it didn't crack.

The glass doesn't fail on it's own, not twice anyway. something is wrong.

Nope. If it was a common issue there would be plenty of threads on it. Don't assume that you can extrapolate a trend from a single data point. It's your windshields/installs.

Has the car been in an accident? Windshield frame or body slightly tweaked?
