Is the S2000 worth its MSRP?
i think the thing with the ITR's volume was they could only make XX engines a day. Honda only had so many machinists capable of porting the B16 head (the ITR has a B18, but with a B16 head).
I think they probably wouldn't be able to profitably make the NSX. Remember it is hand built, and the production costs exceed the price. maybe volume would make up R&D expense and bring costs down, but it is very labor intensive, and aluminum can't just be stamped like you do steel. BTW, the aluminum is what makes Insight so expensive.
The S is at least steel, and the frame is probably machine welded, with the rest, including the engine I believe, done by hand. again, very labor intensive, and i think that is what limits volume.
