for practicality purposes, wrx.

ideally, i'd have an S and a beater that gets good mileage and can haul stuff. like an early 2000 civic or corolla

cant be 'driftinn' in a wrx

You couldnt handle the s2k, how do you expect your younger brother to?

You'd probably kill yourself in a wrx/sti though. Unlike the S2k, which is forgiving (somewhat) and can spin the tires when your going overboard, the wrx/sti AWD, when you put the foot down, you dont spin, you GO. If your not ready for this at the time, or put your foot down a little too early.. seeya

My best friend has a stage 2 wrx and I have an 03 AP1, mods in sig, Ive raced him before, were about dead even in a straight line, but his car seems to just GO sooo much faster, theres so much torque, its too easy to go too fast in that car, atleast in the s2k you have to rev the hell outta it to go anywhere, not the case in the wrx

If you or your brother are going to be getting a wrx do not get an 02/03. Spend the money to get an 04 and up because the transmissions on the early wrx's are made of glass. My friend broke his first trans and then he got a jdm version 6 or something like that and he blew those gears as well. He never misses a gear either and shifts very well. Sti is a different story, cuz those 6 speeds are solid.

Going to show my age...

If I was stupid, I'd give a new driver the S. If I had been given a car this powerful when I was 16 I'd be dead.

You're his older brother so look out for him. Get him a civic, keep your S and enjoy a long and happy life as brothers.

We've got one of each in our driveway. And we're Both fun to drive. WRX obviously more practical.

S2000's are not a good first car. Too many end up wrapped around a pole, and people could get hurt.

you're going to get a biased opinion on here IMO... but for my fair and balanced input: stick with the S

you want to know what you should do? Give the s2000 to your brother, go off to college, graduate, make parents proud, get high paying job, buy Porsche GT3, forget about the losers at s2ki.com. Live happily ever after.

edit: sorry, didn't mean to get on the hater wagon. So you're going off to college, that's great. I think the wrx will suit your needs a lot better in college than the s2000. At least be nice to your little bother and sell it to him at a discount, either way he'll probably let you drive it, so it's not like you're really getting rid of it.

Where are you going to college? Does it snow heavily there? WRX is MUCH more practical in the snow for obvious reasons. Also if you're single and away at college, you're going to want room for more than one chick.

Why do alot of people on this forum think that getting a FWD car as their first car like a 5speed honda civic is a great stepping stone before you get into a s2000???? FWD cars are SOOOOO forgiving through turns and in the rain. I would reccomend a car that is RWD and low on horspower and torque, such a 240sx as a first car. This car will allow a driver to learn how to countersteer and what the appropriate way to handle braking and thorottle in turns. I am 22 and most of all my friends learned driving on FWD, but my parents and all of their friends learned on RWD.
