S2000's are now quite common
Honestly, I NEVER see them on the road here.
Ironically, however, two of my friends at work have S2Ks. One is a 2000 Silver and the other a 2001 Yellow. I'm hoping to add a 2002 Red to that list for myself in the near future. Car is just flat out fun to drive.

To each his own in terms of defining what "quite common" means.
Year to date through June 2002, 5,364 S2000s were sold in the U.S.
Total U.S. S2000 sales in the year 2001 reached 9,682.
For comparison purposes (and keeping it in the family), 181,603 Accords were sold YTD through June 2002. 414,718 Accords were sold in 2001.
My take on that would be that Accords are quite common. S2000s are not.

)and it makes me smile every time I drive it. If I ever have enough cash for a second one, then maybe I might think about the uniqueness and long term value, though by then I'd just assume get a '67 Cobra if I want collector status.By the way, I've only had mine for a few weeks and I still wave when I see another S

Don't necessarily think it'll happen, but... then again, I doubt the S2000 will reach historical status like the Corvette.
That car was more revolutionary, in the big picture. I mean it revitalized American sportscars, I suppose. The S2000, yeah it's revolutionary (and evolutionary) in its technologies, but....

Are you kidding? The S2000 has already hit "legendary" status. Honda has created a car with a unique mystique. Its widely known to be a relatively rare, super-high revving, light, and agile racetrack terror. Some of the "Corvette crowd" may overtly snicker, but the S2000 truly does make them a little nervous....on a par with say leaving your long-time wife/girlfriend alone in a room alone with Brad Pitt
I truly believe that the S2000 will go down in the history books as an engineering marvel of its time. It'll be right next to the spectacular Z06, and a few pages down from the Ferrari GTO and the original Porsche Speedster. And there's nothing wrong with that.

I drive to work from the San Gabriel Valley (Freeway 10) to Downtown Los Angeles everyday and on average I only see one in a week. Not not not many of them.

I see one every single day on the way to work.
Wait, that's mine.
OK, I really only drive my S to work on Fridays. I drive my Del Sol the other days. It's 9 years old and has 170K miles on it, but it's the car with the $3,000 stereo and I'd rather drive with kickin' tunes in stop and go traffic than put unneccesary miles on my new S. Driving on 495 around DC ain't exactly a low-stress event.
Seriously, I travel from Annapolis, MD to Silver Spring and that takes me around part of the Capital Beltway with tons of traffic and I don't see but one or two every three weeks or more. I saw a black one like mine the other day but I was driving the Del Sol and when I nodded to the guy when I went by him, he had no clue why (I had to hold up a sign that said "My other car is a S2000"). I do see a whole lot of those Audi TT whatchamacallit cars with the funny lookin' rollbars though (two a day at least). They're OK I guess but I think they remind me of a VW Beetle or something and are becoming really really common.
I love my S and don't give a hoot how many people are driving them or will be driving them. They're one of the best looking cars out there (from front and back) and fun as she-it to drive. One of the guys that works for me said it's a 'chick-magnet' and I told him to go find me a few and so I could test his theory.
(no, I don't have a sign that says that)
