Look at my posts. Did you see me recommend a Civic SI? No. What I said was listen to the person who said to buy a beater car. Save a couple of grand for next year. Surely by then the S2K's price would drop a bit more. Why would one need such a car just to get through college? Too many college students think too much about now rather than the future. Anyone can buy an S2000 because the initial cost isn't the problem. It's the cost to keep it running. Reliable? Yes, but who is to say cylinder #4 might not crap out, 2nd gear synchro fails, etc. I waited as long as I could after my picking up my career to buy an S, but it feels good to know if crap ever happened to my car (knock on wood), I have the funding to fix it up. I don't feel like I missed out on anything. I'm still living the "you live once" dream. If I were to buy an S in college, I would have end up with a beater 01 and work paycheck to paycheck hoping she doesn't fall apart. I'm no longer in college, so I was able to buy a much newer 2007 model that is less problematic and fresher. The plus side is she is paid for so I have no payments to worry about.

OP can buy whatever car he likes, even if it's an S2000. All I'm saying is you have to be smart about your decision. Not everyone is going to have backup funds while in college. Last thing a college student need is to rack up repair bills on credit card and whatnot. I love the S2000, but even then, my opinion doesn't change just because I'm on the S2000 forum.

Evo/Sti are costly, expensive to maintain - pretty much the same reasons he shouldn't get a S right now. Think BEATER haha. But yes I'd love to own an Evo 8/9/10 as well one day.

Coming from a long line of integras, including an ITR, and a Celica GTS; I will never again buy a FWD "sports car" RWD or AWD from now on
I agree. Although I do love the Speed 3, it has way too much torque steer. If only it came in awd...sigh. To the OP, have you considered the older Subaru Wrx's? Like 2002/2003? This is probably going to be my next car as a daily. You will save a ton of money and have a great car that still performs very nicely.
Torque steer is overblown in my opinion. Grab the wheel with both hands and man up.

With everything else it does exceptionally well, that's about it's only flaw.

Yeah, as a daily torque steer would be negligible anyways.

GYAHHHH WTF DO I DO!!!!!!!>!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!>!!!?!?!!??!?!!?!?!?!???? ?????!?

I just turned 30 and decided to buy a s2k, I've had my fair share of cars. 04 Prelude, 02 240SX, 04 TSX, now the S2k. When I was your age I didnt have money to get stuff for my cars when I wanted to. Now I'm debt free with lots in savings, I own a townhouse with a garage and I can park my S2K in it, I also bough a 04 R6 when I was 25 years old, and I'm currently looking to sell it to make more room for my S2k, I just spent $1500 on Advan RD-G rims for my S2k can't wait till spring so I can put them on. If you really want the S2k then get it, it's more fun to drive, but I would not want it as my daily driver. My 04 TSX is paid off, so when it snow or when I need the space I have another car. Since the S2k is one of my many dream cars also, I'm not gonna want to leave it on the street or use it as my daily car. Why get a nice car when you dont have a beater car.

You got it other way around.....FWD is the biggest drawback in Si....thats why I bought S2000, I was considering Si a bit, but I would be crazy to drive FWD car every again. Past 4 cars have been 1 AWD or 3 RWD

Like I said earlier I had the same dilema and went with the s2k, never looked back. If you get a Si one day you are going to be at a stop light, and your dream s2k is gonna pull up next to you. And you will wish you would have gotten a s2k.

S2k with the correct tires for snow is not bad at all... you just have to know that stepping on the gas wont get the car out of the snow...

this last snowstorm was pretty fun in my S2K and didn't got stock in the snow...

plus the summer with top down is a plus that u wont get in the SI

S2K!! Go for it!!
