I'm not a Vette enthusiast by any means, but have you even looked at the Solo2 results? Vettes are almost always killing the S2000. They're faster in the straights AND in cornering.

In fact I have. Here's the link:

I don't know about you but it looks to me like the S2000's did pretty damn good, even beating a few of the Z06 times...

Yeah...the real question is, did you look at that site before or after I asked the question... and good job on digging up a random '04 Solo2 results.

The top S2k was 2.5 seconds off of the Vette. If the S were to have been in the SS class, it wouldn't even have placed or gotten any points. (thus, the reason for being in BS (well, AS, now). Of course, some Z06's were slower, because driver is 90% of the game. But the top placement times show you which car has more capabilities.

Either way, point is proven--the Vette's advantage is not only on the "boring" straights, as you said, but in the turns, as well. I LOVE my S, but I'm not going to go around claiming, "yeah, well, you can take me in the straights, but I'll take *insert car* in the twisties."

ha look what i started....
I have yet to lose to a vette at autocross... but like you siad it is alot driver. But i would not say 90%.

I would also take a used viper all day over a new vette. But this does boil down to what "YOU" want

You call the Peru Nationals a random event? Ok.

And genius that's the whole point, the S is classed in BS not in SS because the SS is for the "really fast cars" but is still very competitive with SS times. It is mostly driver skill though, that I agree with.

And I'm not saying the Vette doesn't handle well, it does. It is just my opinion that the S handles better than the vette. Handling to me means transitional movements, not static grip levels which the Vette will be superior at due to it's meaty tires.

IMO the vette is aimed for the more casual sports car driver , whereas the S2000 is more for the track junkie. I don't see many vette's at the track events I go to. And the ones I do see are as slow as molasses.

To me it is just a car with a big engine stuck onto it. Maybe the new C6 Z06 is better.

Ariel Atom or a Lotus Elise (can be had new around low 40's) with a turbo kit.
