S2K to CR-Z...anyone else?

Third - at 100 miles per day, you're probably around 25,000 miles per year. At 24mpg average and $2.75/gal for gas, the S2000 is costing you about $2864 per year in gasoline. At, say, 34mpg average and $2.75/gal for gas, the CR-Z would cost you $2022 per year in gasoline. That's a a savings of $842/year. With a base MSRP of $19,200, it'll take you twenty-two years before you see a cost savings by getting the CR-Z. So get the CR-Z because you like it, but don't fool yourself that you'll be saving any money with it. (Update - just read you plan on replacing the S2000 with the CR-Z. Assuming you get $9000 for the S, it'll take you "only" twelve years to realize any savings.)
[QUOTE=Elistan,Jun 23 2010, 02:50 PM] Sorry if I'm addressing anything that's already been pointed out in the thread, I didn't read through the whole thing.
I don't know anything about the cost or process of converting a CR-Z into a fully electric vehicle, so I'll completely ignore that aspect of the question.

^^ I think everyone is kinda harsh on you because you premised this entire thread in your original post with "...and the s2k is getting pretty expensive to operate."
Now you say you don't need to offset costs and such...

You drive the redneck Mustang, he'll take the CR-Z

wait...
what if I suggest an italian car? Would it be:
"you can keep the Roman Auto... and I'll take the CR-Z"
what if I suggest a French car?
"You can keep that auto... and I'll take the CR-Z"

There was a decent article at C/D about the Prius, the main point being that one need not be a tree hugger to love the Prius. It does pack some cool high-technology that does not exist in any other car, and one may love just that.
I would not buy one, but it is a very different car with technology beyond most other vehicles. I can appreciate that.
In many cases, fuel savings and handling are against each other. Think about tires...
One has to be really stupid to question Honda's decision to bring FCX to the US market, unless he has the same knowledge, data, and market research Honda has... Not a tough comparison: Random looser on an online forum vs. Honda.
