Any way to prolong the life of the top / slow the wear down? I know garaging it will help since the TX sun is a bitch, but I drive a lot and am forced to park outside, so the only time the car is going to see the garage is at night when I get home.
many folks use either 303 protectant (similar to Armor all but has UW shield in it that armor all doesn't) or they use Raggtopp--both protect the top from UV rays and keep it nice looking.
Also check out the "wash and wax" forum on here for more info

An S2k would be a great DD--I live in Northern Ohio and we get too much snow for me to drive it everyday but folks even further north use theirs as DDs

I DD mine, it's a fine daily. If you don't need to transport people or a bunch of stuff it's fine. I personally don't take more than one person with me anywhere most of the time so thats a no issue. I've gone on many grocery runs with it and its been just fine for normal runs.

I love driving something that's exciting and fun to drive on a daily basis, I honestly couldn't drive some POS everyday and leave the S in the garage.

I agree with the above post, get a cockpit cover. I daily drive a MY00 still with the original top. Top wear mostly occurs when the top goes up and down alot. people that do lots of shorts trips throughout the day, constantly putting the top up and down many times, are, (with some exceptions), usually the ones with top issues. I have a hard top throughout the cold months and the cockpit cover in the summertime. I'm lucky enough to have a safe parking lot at work and I garage at night. Since I bought the cockpit cover, in the summertime, I sometimes go for a week or two at a time, without ever having to put the top up. I think I have extended the life of the top quite a bit.

The S is a great daily driver, you'll have no regrets.

mine is a DD. The car will wear and tear faster <--- common sense because you drive it more. This can relate to any DD vehicles out there.

I drove my '05 S2000 as a daily driver (it was my "company car") for a year and a half. Put 38,000 miles on it and took several long road trips with my wife including a fall colors trip from South Florida to Virginia then back down the Blue Ridge Parkway. I had no problems with it either concerning reliability or comfort. Then again I'd raher do long distance in a car like that then in a Iowa-class road whale.

I live in TX so I don't have to worry about the whole "driving a beater during winter" because we have no winters, lol.
Lies!!! just b prepared for impractical trunk space and tires spinning out during the rain. Other than a couple minor setbacks like theft, sit back and enjoy the ride. I dd mine and never get tired of it.
