S2K as a Daily Driver.
its a pain in the ass to keep it from getting damaged because of other idiots that dont respect people's property.
otherwise it drives really well (if you can stand the somewhat bumpy ride) and gets decent gas milage. on top of all of this, the biggest deal with DD an s2000 is that its super fun to drive

I have a 2003 Silverstone with all red interior that is a daily driver. My commute is about 35 miles to and from work and is a top down drive. It is half interstate and half streets. I enjoy driving and this definitely is a driver's car. Yes, I VTEC it every day. If you need a big trunk and passenger room, you are looking at the wrong car.
I have driven it twice cross country(top down 90% of the time). The only "problem" that I have had is the top splitting issue. I just glued it up and am waiting to see if this is a "keeper" before I install a new top. It has 72,000 miles and has been nothing but a fun ride for my wife and me to drive. Choose a slightly harder compound tire and tire wear will not be a big deal. Don't beat it to death and find a local group of S2000 people(check the forums) and enjoy the car and the good people that go with it!

I've had mine for 6 1/2 years and 95,000 miles. For most of that it has been my daily driver. I recently picked up an 01 BMW 330i to help put my S2000 into semi-retirement. It's probably my age (54) but I have to admit driving the S2000 thru N.E. winters was beginning to wear on my nerves a bit. And I've been driving sports cars since I was 16. In decent climates it's an acceptable daily driver, if you're in the snow belt get a beater.
The S2000 as a daily driver is overall not really any different from any other "nice" car that might attract theft or vandalism in bad neighborhoods or that you want to keep as pristine as you can, with the exception that the top goes down, which is a very good thing!
And, it is really not different at all from any 2-seater convertible, except as others have said, it is a Honda, which is a good thing, too.
It's easy to see the drawbacks (or advantages!) of a 2-seater, so here are a few drawbacks to the S2000/convertibles:
1. Cabin noise with the top up takes some getting used to.
The stock radio is barely useful with the top up, even with the built-in headrest speakers, and useless with the top down. But, when the top is down, you probably won't care.
2. Hand-wash only.
I really don't have a lot of time for DIY stuff. Taking a couple of hours to hand-wash and dry the car can get to be a chore. However, it's better for the car (so long as you do it right!) and it gives you a chance to really look the car over for chips and stuff that you should touch-up before they rust (if cars rust where you are.)
Overall, if you can use any 2-seater as a daily, you can use the S2000. If you can drive any nice car to the grocery store, you can drive the S2000 to the grocery store.
There's nothing I'd say like "the suspension is too harsh" (actually it's almost magically perfect in terms of stiffness without harshness) or "the steering is too quick to drive it comfortably on long trips" or anything like that. It's a great car, I wish I could drive mine every day year-round but I'm stuck in my beater for the winter, at least until I move to TX.

i'm more ying/yang about it. i drive the suv for work, then take the S out on weekends or in the evenings for fun. i wouldn't appreciate it as much if i didn't look forward to driving her. does that make sense? plus long term parking anywhere in florida is a no-no......too many thieves and jerks.
I just got my 03 as a DD, to replace a Civic Hybrid. I drive about 140 miles a day and needed something more entertaining than the civic. I drive mostly highway, clear roads 70+mph in the morning, stop and go in the evening and still manage to get 26-28 mpg.
As long as you don't mind the car being a little noisy and rough on the road, it's great as a DD. It is not going to ride like your grandfathers caddy, so be sure that you don't mind before you pull the trigger on it.

A great daily driver I must say so for myself. I bought my 2007 about 6 months ago and put over 23k miles on it! (holly cow right?!). I had a '97 prelude that I was supposed to keep as my daily driver; but that plan only lasted for a week. After that, I decided to sell the prelude because I never use it.

I use mine as a DD. If you don't mind only being able to bring one person with you (which I don't because it saves on gas
) it's a great daily driver. Living in Texas, you should have no problem using the S as a DD.

I have had the car for over a month now, and I am getting used to driving this every day as my DD.
This is the nicest car I have ever owned, so I don't see myself getting tired of it. I have however had to make adjustments to the way I treat a car:
-Careful not to curb the wheels on some turns
-No more drive thru
-No more eating in the car
-Careful of where I park and how I park it
My previous DD beater was a 4D Civic. It has sat in its parking space for over a week. When the weather gets better, I shall give it a good detail and place it on craigslist.
