Are S2k owners A-holes?
I generally wave when I see another S owner. Sometimes I get a wave back, sometimes I don't. A couple of times on the road, I've actually felt bad, because there'd be another S nearby and they'd give me a little honk, but it would catch me off guard (I don't see them coming), and I don't wave or honk back. So, I don't get offended if I don't get a response when I wave or honk.
Some people just aren't paying attention, or they don't get the whole "Livin' the S2000 Lifestyle" concept.

I have yet to see another S2000 in this area. Back in the 60's it was always a surprise to see another sports car (of any type) and when two would meet on the road there was always lots of hand-waving. Heck, we'd often stop and chat. That's no longer practical; if I waved at every Miata I met on the road I'd be waving almost constantly.

I moved to So. California over 16 years ago, the s2K drivers are very friendly and I almost always receive a "V" or a wave. Maybe it's because there are more out here than in NJ.
I've also checked out the NYC forum page here at S2KI, they all seem to post other sightings and some even get together for some rides.
We have a special car, others that own them should know that, a wave or a "V" when passing is just a way to acknowledge that fact. Don't stop waiving, maybe it will transform other owners.
i also
every s2k i have seen gave me wave
but havent had s2k not too long and havent encounter many s2ks.
when i was riding around the Type R, i always got a
from other Type R driver. i think R is more refine drivers, unlike S2k where all walks of life drive it.

My guess is if they are a member of s2ki.com, they'll wave or flash their lights.
As difficult is it to believe, some people just buy the car and have no desire to become
a part of this online brotherhood and thus, you'll get that dismissive response from them. Not all, but
many. It's there way of saying, "dude, it's just a car."
Fine for them, not for me.

i dont kno when this thread turned into..."Any S owner that doesnt wave is an A-HOLE", but if u read the first entry u can see that i was not saying this at all. I was just commenting on how it makes u look like an A-HOLE when u give a person a dirty look for waving, flashing or anything else not offensive. Also knowing that S owners are usually enthusiast i was also commenting that it was strange that i am gettin these responses.
I don't acknowledge others guys ,maybe that makes me a homo-phobe. Don't really care. It's just a car a decent one but just a car. It's not the be-all end-all car, jeez it's just a Honda. Since I live at the beach if I look around it will be at the fine looking talent walking around . Not a hard choice check out a hunk of metal or a fine looking SoCal babe.
It's just probably the place where you live in NJ, most S2000 drivers in my area seem friendly enough. In my case, it's usually the other driver instantiating (since I don't wanna risk looking like an idiot left hanging lol) the flash or the wave and I reciprocate accordingly. Hell, even non-S2000 owners give me nods and acknowledgements.
Just this afternoon, I was driving top down east on Rt. 25A around East Northport on Long Island. Usually, you can never get in a spirited drive (there are some decent bends and curves on that route) during the day on that road since there are old farts and people who crawl along at 20 mph (come on, their cars don't handle THAT bad lol) hitting their brakes every 50 feet. Anyway, this nice curve was approaching but the cars were moving along at a snail pace 15 mph so I pull over and wait until there is a decent sized break in traffic - this way I would have room to take the turn at a decent speed. As soon as I pull over, a Silverstone 350Z that was a few cars behind, pulls over in front of me as well and a cute lady gets out walks over to my car and compliments the S2000. Apparently, she's in the market for a new car and is seriously considering the S2000. When I asked her why she didn't like the 350Z (I thought it was her's at first), she said her car was banged up in an accident and she's just borrowing her bf's Z lol. Anyway, after every good point I made about the S2000, her comment was "GET OUT!" - it was pretty funny actually and she was cool. Some lines .....
"How's the gas mileage?" "Around 25-30 mpg." "GET OUT! (big smile on her face)"
"So can you drive this thing in the snow?" "All you need are dedicated snow tires and a couple of sand bags in the trunk for the winter and you're set." "GET OUT!"
"Pretty much every mag comparo review shows the S2000 coming up on top from a performance standpoint." "GET OUT!"
"How does this car handle?" "This is the most fun car I've driven and it's carves corners like it's on rails." "GET OUT! And all this time I was considering this car just because it's cute." "Nope, it's more than that."
