Thumbs up S2k security Question

Does the 08-09 S2k come with a factory alarm? I am somewhat confused when I see honda s2k accessories list on different website offering an alarm system for the S2k. What is going on? What type of alarm do we have on the S?

Thanks in advance

yes your car has a alarm. The horn will honk if the car is locked and somebody opens the car from the inside. Now the factory accesorry alarm adds a hood switch (optional) , proxmitity alarm (motion sensor) and a actual alarm noise. it also has a new remotes and glass brakeage sensor, led bulb and disarm switch.

i installed one once, but it was in 2003

lock the car with the remote and open the door from the inside. if nothing happens, you have keyless entry and not an alarm

Well, not exactly.

The S2000 comes from the factory with only a keyless entry system. An OEM alarm is available as a dealer installed accessory or you can purchase it and put it in yourself. The alarm includes an LED, valet switch, and glass breakage sensor (an audible mic). There is no proximity sensor. There is no 'alarm noise', it only uses the horn. Alarm speakers are available for other Honda models, but not the s2000. A hood switch is also available as a separate option/accesosry.

To find out if you have keyless entry or the accessory alarm....lock/arm it and open the door.

The info above from jeffbrig is correct. The info from J5sense is nearly all incorrect.

In my opinion the factory alarm is not worth it. If you plan on getting an alarm definitely go aftermarket.

Can you explain the keyless entry thing and the accessory alarm stuff? I have a key remote that I can open and close the car and the horn honks when I close the car. I also can open the trunk with it. Is this the keyless system that you are talking about?

thanks

Yes, it's the black remote that locks and unlocks the doors.

IMO, don't bother with the factory alarm. I added a paging Viper with battery back-up and radar sensor to my '08.
