S2k short shifter
Drivers, I have introduced you to my supercharger on the forced induction thread. Now I see no posts regarding shifters on this post. Horrors every other carr has them. Do you want them? Here is the one we just released for the Rx8. The first run sold out in two weeks.
I have an S2k tailshaft in the shop now. It looks very similar to the Rx8. They both use the shaft with the rubber bushing in it. Sloppy stuff. They both use the same style lock out. Feel free to look up the thread on the rx8 forum by users of my kit. Called the RP short shifter, there are two threads, one during development and one from users.
We are willing to make a small run of shifters while no one else will. Also in the picture you see a plate, prior to release we eliminated this part and still got a 29% reduction. The shaft is solid SS and the plastic parts are CNC cut from DuPont Delrin. A premium engineering polymer.
Our pivot pin has a Rockwell C scale hardness of 60.
Remember this thing is not offered for sale, it hasn't even been engineered. Maybe nobody wants one.
Give me your feedback. What do want in a shifter? How much reduction do you need? Is the stock height OK? Any other thoughts? Maybe only a slight reduction in throw but a large improvment in solid feel. A more connected shifter. More race car feeling. One user has discribed it as "rifle bolt solid."
This is more of a product description and information. Technical is meant for very detailed issues dealing with mechanical procedures, "DIY" topics, etc. UTH is more for generalized mechanical topics. Please read the "stickied" threads at the top of UTH and Technical for a description of what to post here.
Moving to S2000 Talk.
ps. The S2000 already has a very short shifter. In fact, so short that it can induce gear grinds with some drivers. I'm not sure many owners would be wanting to shorten their shifters any further. At this point, shortening the shifter by using a counter-sunk knob is the way most of us have shortened the stick. Current S2Ki vendors market such knobs.

I think a more solid feel is not a bad idea. C's, a company in japan, makes a short shifter for the S 2000. However, this is for RHD only and requires modification for US cars (heating the shifter with a torch and bending it). I've seen a few inquiries about a short shifter. I don't know if the price of development would justify the amount you may sell.
Make the shifter, not the throw, a little shorter and more solid and you'd have a winner in my opinion.
With that being said, if the price were right and I had others' positive feedback on an S 2000 shifter, I'd get one. Hell, just send me one and if I like it, I will sing your praises to the highest all over this board.

A short shifter has been an essential mod in a few past cars of mine. I think most would agree that for this car a short shifter would just be for those who want one more mod to add to a list. Honda managed to make what is widely praised as the sweetest feeling/shifting tranny in our cars out of the box and I believe that messing with that is not going to improve feel, and will most likely increase mis-shifts and grinding as X-Viper mentioned.
Good luck
Good luck
Yup. The stock shifter is fantastic. Nice, quick, short throws. But with very little effort, as long as you let the tranny warm up a bit and try to rev-match. The only reason to modify it is because "others cars have short shifter mods". Yeah, and a M3 with a short shifter still has longer throws than an S2000....

Auto Magazine journalists regard the s2000 shifter as the best in the world. I have to agree with Xviper. A countersunk knob is all the further you need to go. Honda engineers did their job with this one.

If you slap a JDM y0 label on it, it will sell like hotcakes.
