s2k is it worth it?
I almost bought my '06 from a kid like you. Couldn't afford to make the payments and had to sell. He was selling cheap because nobody wanted to buy a used sports car from a teenager. I didn't either. I imagine he ended up taking it to carmax and getting reamed. Owning that car for a year probably cost him more than $10k including the insurance, gas, depreciation, and drive off penalty.
For 1, you can't have that much driving experience under your belt, so buying a fast car is probably a bad idea. 2, if you're spending 700 to 800 a month on the car and that's all you make, are you just going to use the car as a yard ornament? Seriously, with gas as high as it is right now, and if you ever want to have a life beyond looking at your car from you house thinking, "man I'd love to have the money to drive my car around the block". Don't do it on impulse. Once you get a little older, you'll realize all you have is time. Take your time and buy one when you financials are looking a little better.

I beg your pardon. Caymen S will blow the doors off of S2000 any day of the week. Throw PSS9 and GT3 seats on it. You wont even think about S2000.
Having said that, S2000 is an amazing machine indeed. But this original poster should not own S2000. You guys are just too nice. I will say it like it is. He is not mature to own this car let alone makes enough to own it.
Forget it kid.

I have to agree with what most people have been saying. If it's going to be as financially difficult for you as it seems, you might want to reconsider. But I will not say yes or no. I'm 18 and I know that if I were in your situation it would probably be hard to convince me not to get the car. I do suggest maybe considering another sports car, though. Other cars that are better with insurance and not as expensive can be loads of fun, too. Maybe a Civic Si (I'm selling my excellent condition 06 with navi by the way) or a WRX? The WRX is actually faster than an S2000 in a straight line and the insurance should be less. But anyway, the ultimate decision is up to you. You know what's important to you in life.
I'd also like to ask everyone else to stop insulting the original poster. I know that a lot of us have a problem with the way he types and otherwise presents himself online, but it's not fair to conclude that he is irresponsible and/or not ready to own an S2000 based on this =]

I've driven quite a few cars, including Porsches, so this is not something I pulled outta my @$$. Most of those cars are faster than the S2000 anyway. So I do sometimes hope the S has a little more power, etc. But again, that's not the point. Don't get me wrong, Porsches are great. If anything, they are probably the only German cars that are worth buying when it comes to sportscars nowadays (some of the older Beemers are quite nice to drive too). BMWs, Audis, etc are great. But they are just fast, but honestly lack the feeling that the Porsches have, or even more extreme, what the S2000 has.
