s2k is it worth it?
S2000 isn't really that cheap. You have to factor in the higher wear and tear (i.e. you change the fluids and tires, etc more often than other cars) ... that's on top of the price of the vehicle
However, if you could afford it, then I would say it's the best car out there to drive. (notice I said to drive, not just to own ... you really gotta drive this thing!!!) It truly is an amazing machine. It is not the fastest car out there, but the driving experience is unbelieveable. In fact, I've yet to find any production car that's anything as close as the S2000 for, say, under 100K (well, maybe the Elise is quite nice too ... though the tranny just isn't as up the snuff as the S is). If BMW hasn't already used the slogan "The Ultimate Driving Machine" then S2000 should definitely use it, because it really is.

For what the car is, I think it's a fantastic driving machine. I think it's worth the money if you are willing to spend the money in order to have the car...
However..not to be rude, but if you already have 3 speeding tickets, I dont think a car like an S2k is really a wise decision, financially and otherwise...because it's the type of car that can very easily get you more if you lack self control.
Get something slow

I agree with most of the others, with your extremely limited budget, and other items you'll want to buy (assuming your parents don't buy everything else for you), you'll be hurting bad. If you have plans to go to college, then you'll simply be screwed (even if your books and tuition are covered, you'll have even more "fun" expenses).

I agree with pretty much all the responses,....I waited nearly 7 years to get my S (finished college, made some money, and going to grad school for "free" right now). For me, this was the right time to have my S.
Reevaluate your priorities. There will be a right time to have a car like the S2k, I don't believe now is it.

Having said that, S2000 is an amazing machine indeed. But this original poster should not own S2000. You guys are just too nice. I will say it like it is. He is not mature to own this car let alone makes enough to own it.
Forget it kid.
