Default S2ks are in trouble

Tell me if you guys see something wrong here:

Honda S2000 CR (what honda considers to be their best S2k from the factory)
S2k CR: 13.8 @ 100.8

This is where it starts to get sad:
Chevy Cobalt SS: 13.9 @ 104.0 (mind you the high time is probably due to FWD)

Mazda Mazdaspeed 3: 14.1 @ 101.3 (mind you the high time is probably due to FWD)

Subaru WRX: 13.8 @ 101.0 (mind you... not an STI)

Worst of all = Mitsubishi Lancer RALLIART: 14.1 @ 97.2 (this is pretty damn close to a regular stock S2k) A LANCER RALLIART?????????? This just isn't right.

Honda better do something about this fast. Our S2ks are really no longer considered fast and the worst part about it is that most think they are really fast, and when they outrun us in say their Cobalt SS... that's pretty embarrassing.

NOTE: Information was taken out of Road & Track (Dec 2008). Models listed above are the most recent releases of each model.

Honda needs to come through.

Oh no! We're slower in a straight line than other cars that are fast! What will people think about us!?!

I think the only problem is with people who own S2k's who ever thought their car was fast in a straight line.

And don't say anything about "S2ks aren't drag cars". I know that they aren't, but for a car that is supposed to be a roadster... it should have a little more umph than what it has now.

I mean... M3s or 335s aren't drag cars, and they haul a$$. For the sticker price that we pay for our S2ks... I think more should be expected from Honda in the speed department.

The S2000 was never meant to be a drag car, it's not FI and it has a 4 cylinder engine...what do you expect? Look at what the CR runs in circuits and real road tracks.

All Honda needs to do to the CR is beef up the same motor and produce a 10-15 psi turbocharged motor good for about 310 hp/280 ft lbs for it and it would be pushing supercar performance.

the word fast is subjective...
i drove a new 600 hp viper last night....0 to 60 in 4 seconds....
now that's fast...

most guys on here bought the s for several reasons....
i'm sure fast was not on top of the list....

So one has a quote in the sig.

Straight line is for fast cars. Turns are for fast drivers.

There is so much more to a car then 1/4 times.

It has nothing to do with that. I didn't buy the car for the drag strip... I Auto-X 95% of the time, so so much for those replies.

All I'm trying to say is that this motor is pretty much obsolete right now (8 years old... going on 9 years). They really need to keep up with the competition for the price they're charging for a new S2k.

Soccer moms in their minivans are keeping up with us.

And also... haven't you noticed more people with S2ks are all going more and more Forced Induction?!?!?!? Doesn't that say something?
