A sad scene
Very sad story. There's no single lesson to take but it makes for a good time for self examination.
Like everyone else on this board, I bought my S2000 because it is very economical with gasoline and you can save money on air conditioning by putting the top down. The superb brakes were a big selling point too. Also, I liked the design of the dipstick and I thought the radio was so cool because it had a speaker in EACH door.
Gosh, I didn't know it was high performance. I thought those rpms above 4,000 were all virtual. Afterall, the owner's manual recommends shifting gears once you reach 3,500 to 4,000 rpms. I've never been over the speed limit in it. In fact, the only reason I spent $400 on a Valentine One is that I'm curious about rf emissions. I'm not sure mine came with a VTEC. I think the dealer took it out instead of the fourteen rubber spring spacers.
No one younger than 54 years old is mature enough to drive an S2000 and no one older than 54 is adventuresome enough. Too bad they made more than one: mine.
Sarcasm aside, youth has no monopoly on recklessness. No real world needs high performance roadsters but lots of things in the real world are done for reasons other than safety and efficiency. Human beings are hard things to figure out, but death does demand respect.

S2K is too dangerous if you don't know how to drive. It's a driver's fault but Honda could make it safter. S2K There are a lot of fishtailed accidents reported. I have a TT Quatro.. and it's much safer with ESP and Quatro on a raining or snowing day.

I have seen all these post about the age of the driver. Having built and raced 700 plus hp muscle and sports cars since the age of 15 I can tell you that my inexperiance did have somthing to do with a few close calls and fender benders, HOWEVER, circumstances beyond anyones control are a contributing factor to many wrecks. This young man has to carry this with him the rest of his life,so ease up people. I am 38 now and have learned that its real easy to be a keyboard critic but unless youve walked a couple miles in his shoes dont be so quick to judge him or anyone. What the hell, dont any of you critics remeber what it was like to be 18 and make a mistake?
