Safely Launching??
I know launching has been discussed on several occasions but I have not found the answer I seem to be looking for. I was just wondering if there is a way to launch the car rather quickly without hurting the clutch or differential? Not really for drag stip purposes but more like for stoplights. My girlfriends mom has a trailblazer and we just mess around at stoplights and just race through like 1st gear just for a good laugh, but she actually keeps up until v-tec. The same thing happened with my step dad in his Dodge Ram w/ the Hemi. They can keep up pretty good until the rpm's get high. But the thing is, is that the races dont last very long and I dont like them to be able to keep up as good as they do.
What is the best way to launch without causing damage? Like a quick slip from 4 or 5k? Anyone got any suggestions or know of a thread that has mentioned this? Thanks in advance,

Try slipping like you were in a less advanced engine. Try around 3k or so. Lower RPM is always better when you talk about durability, also, don't hammer the clutch by just releasing it, ease it in as if you were starting normally, just do it from 3k. Clutch wear is from melting the pads, much like breaks, it will actually temporarily hinder grip in the clutch if you melt the pads a bit, but this can wear off. Still, popping clutches is naturally damaging and adds much wear and tear to any car.
So your saying slip it about 3k? Thats about what I have been doing and was dead even with the folks at the light. I was hoping I would be able to bring the rpm's up a little but Im not sure how bad that would be on the clutch.
Also if some of you could tell me how yall launch your cars if you were not trying to launch like you would to pull a high 13 but to just take off relatively quick. I just got my car about 3 weeks ago and I have never dumped my clutch after reading some of the horror stories and adivce that some of you have given. Sometimes I do like to take off fast but I just wanted to do it in a way that causes the least amount of wear and tear on my car.
The easiest way to check IMHO is by feel, you can usually feel the engine and pull of the wheels to gauge how much damage you're doing. Dropping the clutch before 5k should be safe enough, just don't slam it. The majority of horror stories are from people trying to get the 5.x second 0-60. This is done by popping the clutch in the 6.5k range, trying to kick in the V-tec early. While this is GREAT for the takeoff, you burn the tires up and do EXTENSIVE wear to the clutch, pressure plate, throwout bearing, and the rear diff.
