Default Launching

So I read a lot about "getting a good launch" in this forum.

How do you get a good launch? Does it involve wheelspin, or just clutch slippage?

I would say a good launch would be like saying Getting as far off the line without spinning. But you wont really ever have to worrie about too much spin because we do not have that much torque. I use to launch my car at 6500 RPM but I now Launch at 5500 I found that works better less spin and I am in Vtec in less then a second. Maybe someone else can Shed some more light on it for you. For me it is hard to explain

A good launch isnt just an rpm # someone can throw out at you. It also varies on the conditions around you. Weather, road conditions, tire wear, etc...

These guys are beating around the bush. If your S hooks up on the launch (no wheelspin) then your engine will bog down and your acceleration is not as high as it could have been. You'll never get Honda's advertised (at least back when) 6 sec 0-60 if you hook up.

The fastest stock S acceleration is when you keep the motor closer to its power peak, breaking loose the tires for a distance on the launch. I suppose you could get similar results if you slipped the clutch but that is more difficult and way more expensive (tires are cheaper and last longer than the clutch).

The stock S clutch slips and glazes easily so, as has been probably been posted a billion times, you have to "drop the clutch" to fully engage it with minimal slip. Yes, this is all horribly abusive so YMMV...

okay super newb question, but this will be my second stick car, but i just want to make sure if/and when i do my first burnout i do it right without "messing up the clutch" do rev to my desired rpm and let out the clutch slowly as it begins to wheels spin and when it finally catches i can release my clutch? or would it be best to just rev and keep the clutch in at the same time and when at the desiered rpm or time comes just let loose and hear the tires screech before taking off?

It generally works best when sitting in the slow lane at a stop light and turning the wheel all the way to the left
