To tell you the truth, I could care less what the "experts" think. The Miata is for chumps, the S is for people who like to drive.
What an intelligent comment.

You've obviously never driven an MX5 before. Please spare us with your lack of knowledge and experience with both cars. A car performs only as well as the person behind the wheel will let it. I'd be willing to bet there's been more people who've totalled their S2000's by driving them off the road uncontrollably than Miatas.

The hairdresser comment is old and idiotic. I've been to more Miata meets around the country when I had my NB to know that the car attacts all kinds of people that are not necessarily gay.

I will agree that the Miata is a solid roadster, I have a lot of respect for the car and it's community; but that review was a bit over the top.

I would've been more inclined to purchase a Miata if it put out a bit more grunt.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion I guess.

Mayhaps the author is suggesting that Miata has improved over the model years whereas the S has not. I test drove one back in 1999 and I felt too tall in it.

I guess if it is faster now and cheaper still...maybe that was the point.

He lost me with 8800r/min redline comment. We know he didn't see that while driving the car.

The Miata needed alot of improvement - the S not so much.

Agreed.

I guess he feels the improvements are so significant that they warrant a "dethrone of the S2000 and confirm the MX-5 as the current king"

Well, I still drive a "prince" among the convertibles I reckon.

having owned two miatas i can say from experience they are great cars and not really comparable to a S2000, which is so much more of what makes a miata a great car. the review was obviously not from a carnut.
