That kind of wear doesn't look normal to me, especially not with only 16k miles on the car. I have a '02 with 74k miles and just ran outside to check its seats. I have a lot of wear on the side bolsters (I park my ass on them when entering and exiting), and a few "creases" elsewhere on the seats, but nothing like that. That almost looks like it's pulling apart at the seams or something. Granted, I only weigh 125 lbs, so perhaps I'm not heavy enough to really stress the seats.

It doesn't look like there is any tearing. It is near one of the stitched seams, but it doesn't look like the leather is tearing or splitting. It's like the top layer of the leather is peeling off around the perforations.
