security for the stooks ?
I read an interesting article in Motor Trend (yes, there are some) about car theft. One company is working on a GPS tracking system that would allow you to track your car via the internet if it was stolen. You would not only be able to determine it's location, but you could also remotely shut off the engine, lock the doors, etc. Ain't hi-tech wonderful?
I think it was Robocop which had the best idea, an 18 inch steel spike which shot out of the seat if the car was stolen.
Pain in the bum if it went off by mistake
In South Africa you can get flamethrowers which shoot out from beneath the car at the flick of a switch to stop car jackers (it is legal also apparently).

Trust me i've been there and almost got jacked.
I thought my cousine who lives there was jocking around when she told me to watch out at redx lights in the night.

South Africa is the carjacking capital of the world.
In addition to the flamethrower that someone mentioned above there is also a company down there that manufactures a device which essentially consists of two metal blades (similar to lawnmower blades but not as sharp) attached to pretensioned high power springs. When triggered by the driver the blades shoot out from underneath the car with a 90 degree sweeping motion striking anyone standing within a few feet straight in the shins or achilles area (depending on which direction they are facing)!!!!
They said that the force is enough to rupture the achilles or fracture the leg in some cases. Either way.....OUCH!!!Craig
