Seen many S2000 as rentals ?
I'm on the hunt for mine and something I've noticed is several Florida cars show rental history on carfax reports. Maybe its a coincidence but that's the only state where I keep seeing the rentals show up in the reports. Was this common everywhere or did a specific shop like Hertz rent them out ? I guess it would make sense as a sunny tourist destination. I know rentals can be flogged but when I worked at Hertz the cars were surprisingly well maintained and the dealerships tended to overlook some of the abuse repairs and cover them under warranty given the number of cars we bought from them on fleet.
I would never buy a rental car! Lol, the last one I had was an HHR, and me and some friends caught some air in it over a railroad track. My brother had a focus when his prelude was in the body shop, and we took it on a dirt road and played rally champs. Lol

My uncle rented a Thunderbird in the mid-late 90s when he visited us on vacation and let all us kids (at the time, ages 11-15) do laps around the dirt go-kart track at my other aunt's house.
Yeah, I would never ever buy a rental car.

S2000 as a rental seems like a horrible idea from a business standpoint. I'm shocked that Hertz had at least one as a rental. Seems like more of a car for those specialized rental companies that only do sports cars/exotics. Perhaps they weren't aware of the average drivers' propensity for wrapping them around trees, poles, other cars, etc. when they take liberties with the car and aren't ready for the result. Anyway, if I ever got the chance to rent one, you can bet that car would be sideways half the time I had it for a rental.
