yea its normal, but you said that it is uncomfortable to put your hand on, just a reminder, you shouldn't rest your hand on the shifter unless you are about to shift, you dont want to rest it because it will push it where is shouldnt be, even the smallest amount could be bad, let the shifter rest naturally unless you are about to shift. I heard this from a good mechanic

I have heard this put into more of a racing/driving term. Keep both hands on the wheel, put your hand on the shifter only to shift, then move it back to the wheel. Seems like a safe thing to do regardless of if your racing or just driving on the street.

But I know what your saying, I have seen people use the shifter as an "oh shit" handle in turns. If your going to do that, use the hand brake. However, if your going to make a turn fast/hard enough to *need* an "oh shit" handle, you really should have both hands on the wheel.

Make sure the plastic spacer thing on the end of the shifter isn't cracked or damaged. Might as well regrease the shift lever while you're at it. There is a diy.

Normal.

People say an engine torque dampener stops the vibration.
Not true. I have a spoon engine torque damper and it still shakes. It's never bothered me.

The shifter in my S2000 has maybe a 1/4" of play left/right when running.

Shifter in my old Ram SRT-10 moved around at least a full inch.

It did have huge shift lever to magnify the vibrations...

In either case, it is normal for a direct-mounted shifter to vibrate.

Mine used to shake a lot.

With the J's engine torque dampener, it hardly moves.

Completely normal, I can barely see any movement in the video.

My 240sx had bad motor mounts and vibrated about 10x worse than that.
