Wasn't loose lugnuts that caused that.

That is because of ebay studs and lugnuts.

I thought the official story was that he put on his track wheels and forgot to torque them down...

^^Official story afaik is that he was given the wrong (pitch) lugs, and that although they torqued to spec, they stripped loose after he gunned it.

If he didnt tighten, it would NOT have come off like that.. (all 5 lugs on all four wheels, cleanly) it would've shaken and rattled like crazy before dropping. If it was Ebay lugs, its possible that all broke at the same time, but highly unlikely.
